I'm 99% certain there was no surviving issue of the marriage, as Henry was killed quite soon after the marriage and there is no mention of children that I have seen. My notes are: Mentioned in his father-in-law's Will of 1890 as already deceased. In fact he died 1884 from the effects of an accident at polo in Rawalpindi d of b and service from Army List, confirmed from EIC biographical data at British Library; Berbice is in the East of present Guyana, suggesting that his father had been serving there (and raising interesting issues of where the parents met) He was promoted Lieutenant 8/1/1870 and Capt 8/1/1882 Played as a forward in the 1872 FA Cup final Royal Engineers v Wanderers (lost 1-0) at Kennington Oval, 16/3/1872 1871 Census at School of Military Engineering; recorded as born S America Berboce British Subject (should read Berbice) Obit "The late Capt Rich, who was the son of Col F. H. Rich RE was educated at Marlborough and entered the RMA in 1867. He was gazetted lieutenant in 1870 and promoted captain in 1882. He saw active service in three campaigns - the Perak expedition of 1875-6 (for which he was Mentioned in Despatches and gained a medal with clasp), the Zulu war of 1879 (medal), and the Egyptian expedition of 1882 (medal and bronze star). He was killed at Rawal Pindi (sic) on the afternoon of 17th November by a violent collision with another officer, by which Captain Rich was flung to the ground and his skull was fractured." He was buried in Rawalpindi. Marlborough College Register has him entered April 1864, left December 1866.It repeats campaign record. He married Ada Melvill SIMONS Q2 1881 in Camberwell. Ada Melvill SIMONS, daughter of Henry Minchin SIMONS (1824-1901) and Caroline MELVILL (1832-1916), was born on 9 October 1859 in Singapore. She married Francis Slater PICOT on 16 July 1888.
