Author: AdamWylieKin Surnames: Carroll Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carroll/7026.8.1.1.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: If there was only one Carroll DNA would possibly be employable to prove that for the male line descendants, of which I am not. All Carrolls of that surname should well consider in joining in your group and monitoring your DNA research and conclusions and participating if at all possible. Post here any good ones you get if you care to share them. The Faulk family was able to link a putative but less than certain Faulk branch as one more of the early immigrant or pre-colonial Faulks using DNA, but it require male Faulks from each branch, due to our pattern of patronymic surnames. THere are at least two main ones in South Carolina and more elsewhere as the name is not that unusual. I track some of the South Carolina ones but have found there are too many elsewhere to do likewise. Let the thread know who your recognized patriarch/matriarch are for this group. It was a long time I worried about the Carroll surnamed cousins. The Downing site is the superior source as yet available on-line on these Carrolls and there is much to review and to employ. The URL I gave where I found the 39 mentions of "Nathaniel" was only on the CARROLL message board. If searching all the boards, you would need to use "Nathaniel Carroll". That is wise also, because someone researching the JONES or other surname might mention that a lady married Nathaniel Carroll. 1. [CARROLL] Special Price for testing in CARROLL DNA Project
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: southard Surnames: CARROLL Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carroll/7502/mb.ashx Message Board Post: If you have been wanting to do a DNA test to help with your search for your CARROLL surname ancestry, now would be a good time to do it. For a short period of time the laboratory chosen for the CARROLL Project is offering a drastic cut in price for a combined test of Y-DNA and mtDNA. A man can send one sample that can be tested for his father's Paternal lineage AND his mother's Maternal lineage. A good choice for getting a reduced price is the Combined "Y-DNA37 mtDNA" at http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?code=F25174&Group=Carroll It is necessary to order the kit through a project in order to get this reduced rate. There is a mail list devoted specifically to the discussion of Carroll DNA for those interested in learning more about that subject. It is CARROLL-DNA@rootsweb.com. I am in no way connected with FamilyTreeDNA or any other testing laboratory, nor am I the Carroll DNA Project Administrator - just someone vitally interested in finding CARROLL ancestors for all of us, particularly those Carrolls living in Sampson County, NC in 1790. The Project Administrator is Kevin Carroll. I will be glad to give you his address if you have questions for him.
