    2. carolyn carroll
    3. I am looking for information on Earl Clyde Carroll born circa 1907-08. On his marriage Lic he listed he was born in Memphis, TN but I don't think his family lived there. He listed his parents as Daniel Anderson Carroll and mother Gretta May Ellsworth. He was a big time bootlegger on the run from the law. He died in 1938 and no one in his family was ever notified. He was a drifter and was in Ky, Tn, Ny, Bedford, York and Lancaster Counties, PA.

    1. [CARROLL] Roll Call
    2. I'm searching for information on the ancestors of CHARLES R. CARROLL b. about 1876 in COLORADO, m. ADA UNDERWOOD in CO. and had 3 children, Oliver, Muriel and Matthew. According to Colorado census' for 1900,1910 and 1920, Charles' father was born in OHIO and his mother in (1900) Mexico, (1910) New Mexico & (1920) United States. I have been searching for over 2 years and have not found a death certificate or even a place of death. The family lived in La Veta (Huerfano county) Colorado until sometime after the 1910 census was taken and then moved to Pueblo county before the 1920 census was taken. At that time, CHARLES CARROLL was 47 years old and working as a machinist at "St****** Motors and his son Oliver was listed as a laborer in a garage. The family was living on 8th street. Dawn

    3. Sara, would this James fit? Hugh in Dallas 1. JAMES1 CARROLL was born 1826, and died 1890 in Abilene, Dickinson Co., Kansas. He married MARY CRILLEY January 03, 1854 in Lockport, Will Co. PETER2 CARROLL, b. 1855, Lockport, Illinois; d. 1926, Abilene, Kansas. ii. THOMAS CARROLL, b. 1859. iii. MARY JANE CARROLL, b. September 09, 1861, Lemont, Cook County, Illnois; d. Notes for WARREN LEROY DAVIS: He was born in the Pickins District of South Carolina but moved with his family prior to 1861 to the Winnsboro, Texas Area. In his late thirties and still unmarried, he drove a herd of cattle to the railhead in Abilene, Kansas. While there, he met a professional dressmaker named Mary Jane Carroll, a spinster in her late thirties. LeRoy spent the next few years courting Miss Carroll. In 1897 they were married and he brought her back to Sulphur Springs, Texas. Mary Jane was not happy in Texas. She missed the bright lights and the social life of Abilene. So in 1902, they moved back to Abilene where they raised a son and three daughters. LeRoy Davis' body was buried in Kansas in 1914, but his heart never really left TEXAS. 1. [CARROLL] Carrolls of Northumberland County web site
    2. To all: I have finally been successful in erecting a web site to display the results of my collections of early Carroll families in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada (the Miramichi). The URL is: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~jcarroll/index.htm Take a look if you wish and forward comments to me as you see fit. I will be expanding it as time goes by; there are only 5 families on there now, another dozen or so wait in the wings. Eventually this will touch on PEI and NS. Mostly, of course, I would like to make connections with others doing the same. -------- Joe PS: MY family is not on there yet.

    1. [CARROLL] Graves to be Moved
    2. Lura C Southard
    3. Dear Researchers, I am not a member of the Wake County, NC Mail list or I would send this to them. I know there were many early Carrolls in Wake County, NC, so I thought it might affect some of you. If you are on the Wake County list, it would be a favor to many there if you would post this. The following quotation was taken from an article published July 5, 2000 by WRAL News in Raleigh, NC. Apparently the graves will be moved by the end of July. I hope this helps someone in their search for ancestors. Lura > The DOT will move 80 to 150 graves that sit > along Highway 401 in the path of the Northern > Wake Expressway. The graves are located > near the landmark known as "The Big Man." > > "There was no identity on any of the markers > so I don't know who they are, with the exception > of they could be slaves of a plantation," > Norwood says. Researchers say the land could be a slave or community cemetery. > > Any surviving relatives need to step forward > soon. The state wants the graves moved by the > end of the month. > > The DOT says if no one claims the graves, > they will be moved to the historic Oakwood > section of Raleigh.

    1. [CARROLL] Carroll & Biggs - KY to CA- Mid 1800s to 1900s
    2. In looking through the CA death index I found two entries that may be part of my family of CARROLLs. Does anybody know anything about the CARROLL that married unknown BIGGS? The following information is for a Henry Merton CARROLL and Charles CARROLL. This information seems to fit in with a family lineage that I have also included below. Per the CA Death Index: CARROLL, Henry Merton Born 6-30-1874 in KY Died 10-8-1948 in Merced aged 74 years Mother's maiden name: BIGGS Father's name: CARROLL CARROLL, Charles Born 3-8-1877 in KY Died 4-23-1962 in Stanislaus aged 85 Mother's maiden name: BIGGS Father's name: CARROLL I am hoping this information fits in with the information that I have on John CARROLL - as follows: This information on my CARROLL family is from the 1880, 1900 & 1910 census. Of course it is inconsistent. It would be great to find a relative out there and maybe together we could put all the pieces together. In 1880 the family was living in Simpson County, KY in the township of Franklin. In the 1900 and 1910 census the parents and the younger children were living in Napa County, CA and living in the Napa Township. CARROLL, John -born betw 1842 & 1844 (see below for inconsistent info found) UNKNOWN, Cynthia - born betw 1844 & 1845 (see below for inconsistent info) children: CARROLL, Hannah (Annie), born KY abt. 1862, married John Vanmeter WINSTEAD, lived Hardin County KY. Died 1904 in Louisville KY. CARROLL, Johnie, born in KY abt. 1868. CARROLL, Jamie, born in KY abt. 1872. CARROLL, Henry M., born in KY in 1873, in CA in 1900. CARROLL, Charles T., born in KY in 1877, in CA in 1900. CARROLL, Elizabeth, born in KY in 1880, in CA in 1900. CARROLL, May, born in KY in 1882, in CA in 1900. CARROLL, Francis, born in KY in 1886, in CA in 1900. CARROLL, Blanche, born in KY in 1889, in CA in 1900. The census reports indicate that there was at least one other child born. And either May or Blanche CARROLL married a gentleman who was the warden of San Quentin Prison (per my mother). Inconsistent information found: JOHN CARROLL (C or E), born betw. 1842 & 1844. In the 1880 and 1900 census it said he was born in Ireland. In the 1910 census it shows that he was born in TN. CYNTHIA CARROLL, born betw. 1844 & 1845. In the 1880 census her first name was listed as Seintha. I don't know her maiden name. In the 1880 census it shows she was born in KY. In the 1900 census it shows that she was born in TN. In the 1910 census it shows that she immigrated in 1846 from either Ireland or England (I cannot read the writing). It would be great to hear from others researching this family. nanc innes innesn@aol.com
