    3. My wife Helen and I have finally returned to our "most of the year" home in Corpus Christi. I want to first of all apologize to anyone who may have tried to contact me and didn't get a response. Most likely your e-mail was lost in "laptop land"! We have spent the summer at our "part of the year" home north of Seattle, where we do not have land-based telephones and only a facility where we can connect a lap- top for a brief time to download e-mail. Net result of all that was frequent loss of e-mail and difficult communication. Cal Phillips phillipscalvin@prodigy.net

    3. I am seeking information on Margaret CARROLL. She married William Ferguson, possibly in Jefferson County, OH. I am descended from their son, Robert, who married Elizabeth PORTER in Jefferson County in 1827. Margaret's husband died in November 1868 in Jeff Co, and his will is on file. I have not seen the will, but have it ordered. I have been told that Margaret is not listed, so she must have predeceased her husband. Any help with thsi line would be greatly appreciated! Laura

    3. Hi Lynn, I am a Carroll from Taunton, MA. . I do have a first cousin in Hamden, CT John F. Carroll, wife Marcella. Has several children, all married now. However, he came from Taunton, MA to CT. for his work on the RR. years ago. Would surely like to hear from someone who knows something about some Carrolls from Syracuse, N.Y. The Carrolls surely are a prolific lot, they are everywhere in the U.S. and have been for so very long. Good luck, Claire Carroll Hollcroft, Wyoming.

    2. Wilma C. Hillman
    3. The similarity in our family histories has motivated me to reply to a request written on 29 Sept. I just returned from Ireland and am just catching up. My immigrants are Thomas and Ann Meara Carroll of Lorrha Parish, Tipperary County N.R., Lower Musnster, Parsonstown and Borisokane PLUs. They also came to America in 1854 and had a Patrick who did not show up on the New York City Census. The real motivator for my writing was the fact that I found a Dunn buried along with the family in the cemetery located at the Dominican Abbey in Lorrha. The tombstone is as follows: Kind reader: Departed this life 10 Apr 1793 age 18 Kind Angels watch this heaping dirt "till Jesus comes to raise the dust. Are you sure you are from Westmeath? If any other Carrolls out there have any interest in the location above, I'll be happy to share information. Wilma Hillman, Cinti, OH USA

    1. [CARROLL] Alfred Carroll, Tishomingo Co., MS
    2. lbrunner
    3. Hi, I am new to the Carroll list and would like to talk to anyone with information on this family. Alfred Carroll's daughter Eliza married Thomas Pate Beck in 1847 in Tishomingo County, Miss. The 1850 census says that Alfred was born in North Carolina and Eliza was born in Tennessee. An extremely kind "cousin" told me that Alfred's first wife was Mary Richardson, and his second wife was Elizabeth Bearding. Some of the confusion that I encounter on the Carroll bulletin boards is that there seems to be two Alfred Carrolls living at the same time of approximately the same age: one Alfred Marrin Carroll and the other Alfred Miles Carroll. And to make matters worse, they were both in Tenn. at some time. The Alfred Carroll I found in Roane County seems to be Alfred Miles, but I'm not 100% sure. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me with these two families. Linda Brunner in Pa.
