I am trying to prove that the parents of Sarah Carroll (who married George Denton in Paulding County, GA in 1855) are M.R. Carroll and Mary. The reason I believe these are her parents is that they are on the 1860 Paulding County, GA census living near George and Sarah Denton. The ages look right for everyone. Can anyone help me with: WHO IS M.R. AND MARY CARROLL in Paulding County in 1860? Thanks.
Hello everyone. I'm new to this list and I thought I would just see if anyone knows of my Carroll family. My Great Great Great Grandfather was Thomas Carroll who I understand came from Waterford. He was living in NSW and married Sarah Slack at Bukkulla in 1858. I can't find the death record for Thomas yet and therefore I don't know Thomas' parents names (they weren't listed on the marriage certificate). They had one son John Thomas Carroll who married Ellen Ann Griffiths in 1882. They lived around the Ashford area of NSW. John and Ellen had seven children - Thomas Joseph (married Nora Asimus), Ellen Ann (married Edward Stevens), Victor harold Barwon (who died in WWI), Percy Clifford (married twice - May Rixon and Lorna Cavanagh) Olive (married Meurant) Myrtle (married Christopher Ryan) Lincoln (I think his name was actually John) If any of these names sound familiar to anyone, I would love to hear from you. Earl Clyde Carroll was born circa 1906-1907. On docements he listed his place of birth as Memphis, Tn but always said that was not where his family was from. I do know he had family in the south central part of TN but no idea of a town or what family that may have been. In the late 1920's he went to Bedford/Huntingdon Co., PA to work in the coal mines. He was a bootlegger and was probably on the run from the law. He married Mabel Showalter. He was very mysterious and even his wife knew little about him. He bought her wedding ring around York or Lancaster, PA. On his marriage licenses he listed his parents as Daniel Anderson Carroll and mother as Gretta May Ellsworth. He took Mabel to Long Island, NY and worked for a Sawyers family. He then took her to Totz, Ky where he worked in the mines. They then returned to Bedford Co., PA and he died of Blood Poisoning. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for information on William Gaines 1868-1951, b & d Houston TX; m Emma Cole. His parents were ? Gaines and Mary Jane Carroll 1847-1902 b Baltimore d Beaumont TX. We have hit a brick wall on William and on his mother. Given the prominence of Carroll's in Baltimore and that I was researching from there, this is quite a stumper. Any help will be appreciated.

A book that Helen and I have found useful-"Virginia Carroll's and Their Neighbors - 1618-1800s" is still available at the publisher (Heritage) 1-800-398-7709. We bought a copy about a year ago and recently decided to try and find another copy for Helen's uncle for Christmas. Amazon listed it as out of print, but when I contacted Heritage, they still had copies, although it isn't listed in the catalog. The price is 24.95 Cal phillipscalvin@prodigy.net
