T. H. Carroll m Anna Murphy. Do not know when, but they both came from Ireland. They ended up in NY, where they had Catherine A. Carroll b. 12/22/1852 I do not know what part of NY although it was suggested in was in NYC, by another decentant from her. (which just had a heart attack, so any info from him now is impossible). Prior to 1879 she moved to Cloverport, Breckenridge County, KY. She married a John Finan, also from Ireland. I found several records, suggesting a marriage for a John Finan and a Catherine Carroll in 1866 in Vanderburgh County, IN. But have not been able to get any info on that yet. She had a son in 1879, John Finan in Henderson County, KY, and remarried in 1885 to a John E Rapp, in Vanderburgh County, IN. Then she shows up in Henderson County, with two children from him and John Finan in 1900 Census. I am sure that T. H. Carroll and Anna had more children as in the 1920 census Catherine Carroll is deceased (d. 1915 in Vanderburgh County, IN) but a Walter Carroll nephew is living with John Rapp and their daughter Delia Rapp. Middle names for the Finan's may suggest that Catherine's father's name was Thomas or Therman <sp>. And the middle name possibly Herbert. I realize this is not much to go by, but maybe some of you may have a suggestion. They probably came over from Ireland in the early 1840's or so. A mysterious man by the name of Earl Clyde Carroll showed up in the mountains of Bedford Co., PA to work in the coal mines..circa 1929-1931. He was basically a shady person, or very private, never telling anyone much about himself. He then against her parents wishes married Mabel Showalter. He listed on his marriage licenses he was born in Memphis, TN. His listed his parents as Daniel Anderson Carroll and Gretta May Ellsworth. He bought her wedding ring in York or Lancaster, PA. So he may of had family there. He was born circa 1906-1908. He was a bootlegger and a coal miner. He refused to talk about his past or his family. Durning their short marriage he took Mable to Long Island, NY and worked for a Sawyers family. They then moved to Totz, KY and while there a baby die. His name was Ralph Gerald Carroll and he was born in Pennsylvania on May 1, 1934 and died in Totz, Ky on July 24, 1934. The funeral home was in Harlan and he was buried in Totz. They moved back to Bedford Co., PA and he died in April 25, 1938 of blood poisoning. Mabel never notified any of his family. Around 1950-1970 a cousin of Mabels seen an ad in some sort of newsletter that someone was looking for him. This was probably his family. Mabel never replied. His family could of been from PA or TN.... or both. He seems to have ties to Ky or why would he have went there. Any clue to my mystery man would be greatly appreciated. He always told Mabel that he was born in Memphis but they never really lived there was just traveling when he was born. Mabel did meet some cousins in TN and all she could remeber is they lived in the south central part of the state.

Hello Carroll listers, I am seeking information on Margaret Carroll, who married William Ferguson, I believe in Washington County, PA. William's date of birth is 1778 in PA. Their marriage date is estimated at 1798-1800. Margaret predeceased her husband, who died in Jefferson County, OH in 1868. Hello, Searching for info and connections between the families of Bishop John Patrick Carroll of Helena, Montana, ( born in Dubuque, Iowa ), father Martin born in County Cavan ( immigrated to USA in early 1950's ) and the families of James Carroll ( Kiltimagh, Mayo ) who came to USA in 1847 and eventually settled in Dubuque with his wife Rose Conlon, and the family of Mary Carroll McGoldrick born in County Cavin ( daugher of Thomas Carroll and McMahon ). Mary and her husband also settled in Dubuque, Iowa. Also, at the time that Jame Carroll imigrated on a famine ship in 1847 there was a Patt Carroll and family who accompanied them from Liverpool and we think they may be related since they were all listed together. Finally, there is the nephew of James Carroll who came to America in 1882. HIs name was Michael Joseph Patrick Carroll. He eventually settled in Harrison, Nebraska. His son Martin lived most of his of life in the Tacoma, Washington and we know one of his sons survived ( William or Michael ) but we don't know what happened to him. The mother's name was Hunter. Hello all. I am interested in my ggGrandfather Patrick Carroll, b. ca.1821 Co. Cork, IRE and his brothers Coleman Carroll & John (who had a daughter Mary). I know that Coleman had a wife & children by 1865, and that John had a daughter Mary by that time. Patrick had come to Philaderlphia by then also, married twice, and had several children. Happy New Year Lister's, I haven't posted my for awhile and since this is the begining of a New Year,I thought it would be nice to start out by posting my interest for any of those who might be new also. I have a great grandfather who came over from Ireland in the early part of the 1900's. As the story goes he came over here himself got established and then brought over his wife who had one in arms and one on the way. They together had ten children to which one of them was my grandfather. They resided in the Clifton Heights area here in Pa. Most of there children are now deceased expect for the youngest two Thomas and Joseph. Almost all of the grandchildren have also resided in the Delaware County area of Pa as well. I have little info on any of my grandfather's siblings, but I'm willing to share what I have with those who feel they might have a connection.
