    2. Hi Lura: Yes, that is part of the family lore that is past down. I have never been able to find out the names of the other two brothers that landed at Wilmington with STEPHEN. We could possibly be connected through your ALEXANDER, but I just don't have a clue if that would be true. Maybe if we keep digging long enough something will pop out at us. Keep in touch, Faye

    3. Faye, I don't remember that when we corresponded a time or two in the past that you knew one of Stephen's brothers settled in Sampson County. Do you have any new information on that, or is that part of the family lore passed down? I have recently learned that a story has been told in my family that my Alexander Carrol/Carrell who married Lucy Ryal/Royal in 1783 in what became Sampson County came into Wilmington, NC from England. (Most likely via England from Ireland) It is possible the story should have been that his father or grandfather took the boat ride instead of him. If any other Sampson County, NC, Carroll families have traditional tales, now would be a great time for you to share them, pretty please. Several of BENJAMIN's children migrated to McNairy County, TN about 1830. One of the children, STEPHEN, my gggrandfather, then went on to Southern Indiana with some of his children. 3. Listers - I'll add my CARROLLs to this roll call! Family lore says we are not Irish but English, although that might have just been a passing generation or two! Until recently, I couldn't get beyond my gggrandfather Robert, but a recent envelope of notes from a distant cousin revealed the possibility (still to be proved with records) that his parents were Robert and Elizabeth. The same envelope revealed a sister Hannah. The brother Thomas comes from a Civil War Memorial listing in Colrain, MA that shows both Thomas and Robert enlisting, but I can find no other Civil War records that trace Thomas. Oh, the joys of this hobby! Here's the list - any hits? Happy hunting!
