Hi cousins! I have been searching and searching, to no avail. 'My" CARROLL's seem to have appeared from no where! Rosana CARROLL (born circa 1810,Ireland, daughter of Arthur CARROLL & Mary DONNELLY-sp?) married a wonderful man named Arthur MULLEN (born circa 1812, Ireland).. next scene, in America -I dont really know if Arthur & Rosana migrated as adults or met in the USA...they just suddenly appear. They had several kids apparently in MN. in the mid 1800's. The Q is.....since I cant find any trace of these folks, can I borrow someone elses' CARROLL's??? LOL ! Montgomey Co. IL died Oct 11 1925 age 94 yr.8 mo 20 days. He was born Portsmouth OH. His father was also James CARROLL born Maryland and his mother was Mary Ann Beg____? born Maryland. My ggrandfather was Patrick Joseph Carroll. He emigrated sometime in the 1840's. Supposedly the only person who corresponded with him was a sister. Don't know what he did from that time until he showed up in Beaver Falls, PA in the 1870's. At that time he married a woman 20 years his junior - Margaret Ann Gibney - who was born near Wilkes-Barre, PA. Patrick is buried in New Brighton, PA. There are four Carroll gravestones together - John, Margaret, Patrick and Mary. I asked my mother years ago who the other two were and she shrugged and said "cousins". All records were lost in a fire. Patrick and Margaret had three sons: Christopher Charles Joseph born 1887 Thomas A. was born approximately 1877. He married Frances ? They had four children. son - Thomas dtr. - Hilda dtr. - Margaret dtr. - ?? who married Frank Langsenhamp(sp) in 1929. The family moved to Indianapolis, IN where the senior Thomas died in 1929 after suffering a CVA at his daughter's wedding reception. I met the junior Thomas in 1957 in Indiana, but don't know whatever happened to his children or his sisters children. Charles Joseph was my grandfather who lived in Beaver Falls and New Brighton, PA. Christopher was raised in Beaver Falls, but moved to Pittsburgh ? He died in a drowning accident as a young man. Anyone see any possible connection? Carol

Listers - I agree the CARROLLs are the Smiths. They had many, many children and they were all named Patrick and John, or Mary and Bridget in th 1840's. I have several CARROLLS that I am searching for: Margaret CARROLL b.abt.1800 in Ireland. She married Christopher Keogan and lived in Virginia, County Cavan. Her first child's baptism sponsor was John Carroll. I do not know where Margaret's family lived. She may be the sister to the following John. A John CARROLL emigrated to America in 1848 to join his brother Patrick in the Rochester area. There were four CARROLL boys, two went to America and two went to Tasmania. They left Athy, Co. Kildare. Patrick was in the 1850 census of Ridgeway,Orleans County, NY married to Mary and had four sons, John, Patrick, Francis and Daniel. John came to find a better life for his wife Catharine and 8 children, but was not heard from after June, 1849. It was presumed he died in an accident. He was in Clyde, New York and was to join Patrick after the harvest. Patrick and family were not in 1860 NY census. They could have joined a cousin Johnney CARROLL who went to St. Louis, MO. Any CARROLL connections out there in St. Louis - there are loads of them there. Catharine was sponsored by one of John's brothers, Dennis, to emigrate to Tasmania with three of her daughters in 1857. The decendants in Tasmania are still interested in finding Patricks whereabouts. I am also looking for Michael CARROLL who emigrated in th 1860's from Co. Armagh. He married Mary McElhearn from Co. Meath. I don't know whether they married in Ireland or US, but they had two daughters, Ann and Mary, one in 1865 the other in 1868. Both were born in Fall River Massachusetts. Ann Smith nee Ahearn also lived in Fall River, MA and was very close to that family. Her mother was Nancy CARROLL. Michael might have been a cousin. They were both born about 1830-40. I'm looking for info on James Ramsey Carroll. No idea who his parents were, his birthplace, year, siblings, etc. He was the second husband of Louise Bershen Raney and I believe their marriage took place in the late 1800's. They had two children - James Robert, born in 1898, and Gladys, born in 1902. I'm guessing he was born in the South because I believe his wife was born in Kentucky. I'm looking for CHARLES R. CARROLL born about 1876 in Colorado. He married Ada Underwood and they had 3 children, Oliver (my g-grandfather who was born in 1900 and later married Willa Alice Adams), Muriel and Matthew. The family lived in La Veta, Huerfano County, Colorado during the 1900 and 1910 census' until they moved to Pueblo in time for the 1920 census.
