    1. Re: [CARROLL] George CARROLL from GA to Coffee Co., AL
    2. Lura
    3. Larry, This may not help at all, but if you are like me you must follow every possible lead. Many Carroll/Carrell families migrated from NC to GA. I just noticed a George Carrell and William Carell who took an Oath of Allegiance to North Carolina sometime between 1774-1804. This is on the same page with several other things related to Bute County, NC. I don't remember right now how Bute County was divided up into other counties. Finding the name George might indicated a possible connection. The site is at: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/data/nc+index+10 339468667+F I found that by doing a search for Carrell on Rootsweb. I hope this proves to be a lead for you. He moved on into Franklin County, Georgia and married ca 1804 to Ann Baker, daughter of Elias Baker. George had 6 children-Mary,Sarah,Peter Tarpley,Elias, John B.W., and Edward A.S. George moved his family into Chattooga County, Ga. in the late 1830's. He remained there until his death between 1850 and 1860. I am looking to confirm his father and mother. There was a Peter Carrell and wife, Mary, who were in Franklin County in the late 1780's. They lived near the Baker family that George married into and Peter was on land records with Elias Baker. The only other clue I have is that George and his wife Ann named their first 4 children the same names as their parents, Peter, Mary, Elias, and Sarah. Does anyone know of this Carroll family? This Peter moved into Gwinnett County around 1822 and I then lose track of him. Thanks, Sherry Carroll Brewster >

    1. [CARROLL] Benjamin Blase Carriel
    2. Charles Carroll
    3. In the 'PEASE Family History' by Rice in 1982, a chart on page 21 identifies a BENJAMIN BLASE CARRIEL and Elizabeth BARROWS as the parents of Nathaniel Carriel of Salem b) 1638 who married Mary Pease. Rice states that Benjamin and Elizabeth arrived in Salem in 1632 on the "Galatea". Benjamin was identified as from London. The text listed his father and I think his grandfather also. I've lost my original notes. I have been unable to substantiate any of this. Does anyone have access to the manifest of the Galatea or any information on this CARRIEL? Any help is appreciated. 1. [CARROLL] John Carroll/Ellen Hennessey
    2. Selmar
    3. Most of my genealogy search on the Carroll's and Hennessey's have been concentrated on County Cork, Ireland because family lore has it that my great grandfather John Carroll and his wife Ellen Agnes Hennessey came form County Cork. However recently I have found a naturalization paper for John Carroll in Lafayette County, Wisconsin dated Nov. 4, 1864, where my great grandfather was living at the time. The naturalization paper said he was born in the County of Tipperary, Ireland and emigrated from Limerick and arrived at Springfield, Massachusetts in June of 1846. I checked the 1850 census for Massachusetts and found a John Carroll along with maybe 4 sibling sisters, Catherine, Margaret, Elisa, and Bridgett all in Chicopee, Hampden County, Massachuesetts (Chicopee would be like a suburb of Springfield). John married Ellen Agnes Hennessey, where I don't know , and they had their first child, Maria, in Cohoe Falls, Albany County, New York in 1859 and their 2nd child, John Martin, in 1861 also in Cohoe Falls. Their 3rd child, Agnes, was born in Platteville, Grant County, Wisconsin. Their 4th child died at birth and their 5th child, Josephine, was born in 1868 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. Their 6th child, Henry my grandfather, was born in 1870 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin and their final child, Thomas, was born in 1872 in Lancaster, Grant County, Wisconsin where I was born and raised. I wrote to the Catholic Church in Cohoes, New York asking for record of marriage of John and Ellen, but they responded that their records were incomplete and they had had a fire in the past and some of the records were destroyed., so I am still searching for the marriage certificate, both in the U.S. and in Ireland, as I still don't know where the marriage took place. John died in 1909 and per his headstone and death certificate, he was born in 1837. Ellen died in 1909 and per her headstone and death certificate she was born in 1839. The natualization paper states he was 32 years old in 1864, but by death certificate he would have been 27 in 1864. The 1850 census shows John's age to be 19, but per his death certificate he would have been 13 in 1850. So as can be seen, I have conflicting age references. I have no source of where Ellen Hennessey came from in Ireland, other than family lore said she also came from County Cork. I checked with the Mallow Heritage Center in County Cork when I was enjoying Ireland in 1999 and they could fond no record of John or Ellen's marriage. John's father's name was also John and his mother's name may have been Rhyan. I have no information on Ellen's parents. Need help and luck. Larry

    3. I am looking for information about William Carroll abt 1784-1870. He moved from Rockingham NC to McNairy Co. TN. Census records list him as being born in MD, DE and NC. I have a lot of information about descendants but very little about ancestors. He is believed to be the son of Henry Carroll who died in Rockingham Co. in 1832. Henry's will lists: Daughters: Sally Barber, Nancy Overby, Lany (?) M. Carroll Sons: William Carroll, Daniel Carroll, James Carroll, my wife's son Levin McCollister. Would appreciate any leads. 1. [CARROLL] Roll Call
    2. Hi My CARROLL family is in CT. Thomas and Ann Dunn CARROLL came to Fairfield, CT from Cty Westmeath, Ire around 1850. They had 2 children in Ire, Christiana and Patrick. They had 2 more children here in CT, Mary Ann and John. I am stuck finding where the family lived in Westmeath. There was another CARROLL family living in Fairfield in the late 1800s also. They were Patrick and Rose CARROLL. They had 2 daughters who did not live to adulthood and 1 son who did, William. William became a doctor and moved to NJ. Patrick was also from Cty Westmeath but I have no way to connect the two families. If either of these families sound familiar to anyone, please contact me. Susan in CT
