My brick wall is finding parents for my gg-grandfather Charles R. Carroll. According to the 1900 census in Huerfano County,Colorado, Charles list himself as being born in COLORADO and his parents as born in (father) Ohio and (mother) Mexico. In Later census' , he lists his mother as being born in New Mexico (1910 Huerfano Co.) and then U.S. (1920 Pueblo Co. Colorado) Charles married Ada Underwood in 1899 and they had three children, Muriel, Matthew and Oliver (my g-grandfather). Ada's family is traced back to 1620's England on the LDS site but I've yet to find anything on the Carroll side before Charles R. Does ANYONE have this man in their tree? Dawn DawnNCass@aol.com

Good morning list, Martin CARROLL, his wife Margaret and their three daughters immigrated to Iowa ca. 1852. Information taken from Federal Census - Iowa indicate that both Martin and Margaret were born ca. 1810 Ireland; their daughters all born in Ireland: Mary b. ca. 1845 Bridget b. ca. 1846 Julia b. ca. 1848 The only hint of a birth location is Martin's obit that mentions that he emigrated from County Kerry (not exactly first-hand information). I've not been successful in finding birth locations for any of this family. No mention in death records or death notices. Martin's Naturalization describes him as 'native of Ireland'. Without a particular parish to look in, a search in County Kerry seems to be next to impossible. I've checked thru the Householders Index only to find the name CARROLL appears in every parish listed. Any suggestions as to locating a particular County Kerry parish in which to begin a search? Gerry
My brick wall is also a William CARROLL, born 1835 in Chatham, New Brunswick; appears in the 1851 census (age 15) as a grandson, living with James and Bridget FAHEY. From there, no information. Does anyone have a William CARROLL, born about that time, and from New Brunswick (or maybe just "Canada")? ------- Joe
My brick wall is James Carroll. He was born in 1851 in East Stoughton (Avon), MA which is about twenty miles south of Boston. His parents were John and Ann Moran Carroll. John came from County Cork and Ann came from County Leitrim. James vanished from the scene around 1880 or so. There is no marriage or death record for him in Massachusetts. I theorize that maybe he went west with his brother, John, who enlisted in the service in San Francisco around 1880. James is mentioned in his father's will which was written around 1890. He must have still been alive then...somewhere. Anybody out there have any connection? Sara in Massachusetts

My brick wall in my Carroll line is Phillip and Betsey Carroll C 1812 in NC. My ancestor listed them as his parents in a late-life marriage in Lee County, Va in 1878. My ancestor William James Carroll was born abt 1812 (census). He and Nancy had four children born in NC starting in 1837 with William James Carroll. By 1850, they had moved to Va and moved on to Lee County, VA in the mid-1850s. I have not been able locate this family in NC. Any help would be appreciated. Chuck email "teflon@visuallink.com"
My brick wall is find out about William Carroll who is connected to the Hydes. They are from the Birmingham, McCalla Alabama area. The family was almost completely wiped out from influenza around 1916-1918 and one of the surviving sons was Homer Carroll and was raised by the Spark family and other aunts and uncles. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thanks! Jackie Carroll jcarroll@centurytel.net
Hmmm! You've been really quiet lately???? While our sons were growing up, that was usually cause for concern! Actually, I ran onto something the other day on another list that sounded like fun. No, it wasn't a roll-call. Those are usually counter-productive, jamming up the e-ways and causing everyone to pound their delete keys when they finally get tired of those endless lists of names. This is a call for each of us to post a brief message concerning our genealogy brick/stone wall. I will give you an example for Helen and I and hope others will follow. Our stone wall is Helen's GGGrandfather who is named in family history as Nathan Carroll of Henryville, Clark, IN. We believe him to be one and the same as Nathanial B. Carroll, b.September 17, 1777 in Greenbrier, W.V. Nathanial B. m. Mary Jeannette Graham on Oct. 13, 1831 in W.M.C., North Carolina. Nathan m. Mary Allen Bonney , April 27, 1833 in Henryville and d. June 4, 1870 also in Henryville, Clark, Indiana. We would appreciate any and all information that anyone might have regarding GGGrandfather Nathan/Nathanial.
