Well I must get into the Brick Wall discussion. Mine is my ggrandfather, Noah Alexander Carroll. He is in the 1870 census for Wilcox County, AL. I have no hint as to where he was born nor his parents name. My mom thinks my grandmother said the family came from Florida but my aunt says they came from Texas. I have not been able to find his birth in either? Please help if possible. Thanks

My brick wall is William Carroll. Seems there are an awful lot of William, James and John Carrolls. My William was probably born about 1760 to 1770. Wife's name unknown. One son - John - was born 1790 in Tennessee or North Carolina. Second son - Albert - was born 1795 in North Carolina, third son - James was born 1799, in North Carolina. John married Elizabeth (Betsy) Stubblefield in Virginia in 1810, and they eventually moved to Missouri. James married Mary (Polly) Bond in 1820 in Tennessee. They also moved to Missouri. Not much is known about Albert, except that he was living with his parents 20 miles north of Knoxville, TN, in 1835. If you run across the name Albert (possibly Alfred) Carroll/Carrel living with a William Carroll, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thank you, Larry Carrel
Does anyone out there know where Gasaway and his ancestors originated? Thats James Gasaway Carroll husband of Elizabeth and Mendana. Sherry

After 20 years I still have hit the same brick wall. I cannot find descendants of ANY of my ggrandmother's siblings. My ggrandmother V. Ann (probably Veronica Ann) was born in Kildorrery, Cork, about 1819. Does anyone trace back to her parents Denis and Margaret Kennedy Carroll, married in 1813? or their children: Ellen b. after 1813 Denis b. after 1813 Margaret/Peggy b. after 1813 Edmond b. 1827 Catherine b. 1830 Mary b. 1832 Anthony b. 1837 I imagine there were more children, but these are the ones I have uncovered. Still looking for information on William Carroll. I have limited information on Williams wife Mary, largely from her obituary (Bedford Gazette October 5, 1900) which lists the childrenJoseph of Allegan MI, William of Calloway NE (my line), Wilson of MD, Catharine Nicodemus of New Paris, Mrs. Annie Relogle of MD, Mrs. Hannah Kuntzman of Holidaysburg, anmd Mrs. Matilda Pluck of Schellsbery. Mary was born in Bedford County on March 20, 1814. The 1860 Unreadable Census: Schellsburg Borough lists William Correl (and the above children with the exception of the oldest) as from New York City. Any information on William who is listed as 51 in 1860 (assume birth date of 1809 and from New York City) would be sincerely appreciated. Fred Samson.
Hi Everyone..... James (b. 1796 Garadice, Co Meath, Ireland) & Isabella (b. 1799 same) CARROLL and one son, Robert CARROLL (b. 1817 Ireland) came to Canada @1818-1820. Shortly afterward, they moved down into the Plattsburgh area of Clinton County, NY. They had at least three more children: Paul CARROLL (b. 1822 NY) m. Margaret Kavanaugh; Matilda CARROLL (b. 08 Aug 1823 NY d. 09 Sep 1901 NY) m. James CLARK b. 24 Aug 1820 d. 29 Jan 1900 NY); and James CARROLL (b. 26 Jun 1828 NY d. 26 Oct 1903 NJ) m. Jane HOGAN (b. 1831 d. 12 Jul 1879). My brick wall is: I have traced three of the children (I am descended from James). BUT, what happened to Paul CARROLL and his descendants?? Paul CARROLL and Margaret KAVANAUGH had the following children: Isabella CARROLL (b. 1843 Clinton County, NY) Mary CARROLL (b. 1846 Clinton County, NY) James CARROLL (b. 1848 Clinton County, NY) John CARROLL (b. Sep 1850 NY d. 12 Dec 1877 Clinton County, NY) Matilda CARROLL (b. 1852 NY d. 02 Nov 1869 Clinton County, NY) Elizabeth CARROLL (b. 1855 Clinton County, NY) Margaret CARROLL (b. 1856 Clinton County, NY) Catherine CARROLL (b. 1859 Clinton County, NY) Robert F. CARROLL (b. Jun 1866 NY d. 01 Jan 1867 Clinton County, NY) In the 1860 Federal Census, Paul and his family were living in Chazy, NY. Also at that time Mary's mother, Mary Kavenaugh was living with them. In 1867, Paul's home on Protection Alley was destroyed by fire. Paul and Margaret are both supposedly buried in the Old RC Cemetery in Plattsburgh. I cannot find any thing else on him or his children (that didn't die early) after 1866. Any ideas?? I realize that so many daughters makes it a bit tougher to trace. Linda Carroll Bifulco
