    3. I just found out that a company called One Great Family billed me-debited my checking account without authorization in the amount of $74.95USD One Great Family address I found online. It is a Genealogical company however, I have never signed up with them for anything, no programs nor any membership or subscriptions. However they managed to get my credit card number and have charged me $74.95 I do not use this site for my genealogical research and in fact never knew of them until today when I saw the charge. I have just reported this fraud to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center a program by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/ondex.asp and wanted to forewarn everyone to be careful of genealogy sites, some companies just are not as honest as they would like for you to believe. Keep Safe! The address for this place is: http://www.onegreatfamily.com Shalori America is not anything if it consists of each of us. It is something only if it consists of all of us. Woodrow Wilson

Please respond directly to Mr. Mills Cal ----- Original Message ----- From: "d. mills" <duane@online.no> To: <CARROLL-admin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2002 11:07 AM Subject: query My name is Duane Mills and I live in Stavanger, Norway. I do not want to subscribe but do have a question relating to the Carroll surname. Would you please place this query for me and anyone having info can contact me privately. Duane Mills Stavanger, Norway *************** I am particularly looking for the parents of the wife of Hugh Carroll, b. 1804 in Martinsburgh, VA. Her name was Ann or Anna and her surname is believed to be Shelton. She was b. abt. 1810 in Claiborne or Grainger Co. TN. Hugh and Anna migrated West with the Cherokee in the 1830´s, first living in I.T. and then moving to McDonald Co. MO. Hugh and Anna had at least 10 children: Ralph, John, Henry, James, Samuel, Christopher C. Thomas, Sarah A. Mary S. and Martha E. The name Ralph for their first born son may link to her supposed father, Ralph Shelton of Claiborne Co. TN. Hugh Carroll was killed in the Civil War in MO, supposedly with 3 of his sons but his widow Ann survived him and is believed to have died in 1895. I have only this info, found online: I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Neosho, Newton County, Missouri. Carroll, Ann, d.12/26/1895, Age 87 yrs 2 mo, Dr. Van Cleve While this does not prove it is the same Ann, the age certainly correlates with the known facts and census records. Again, I am researching Carroll only to find the Shelton link for Hugh´s wife Anna, but have accumulated quite a lot of info on this family. I would be glad to trade info Duane Mills Stavanger, Norway duane@online.no

    3. I have found another history about John Carroll, b. 1826 or 1828, in Tn, and lived in the areas of, Carroll Co. Ar., Madison Co. Ar. and Vinita, Ok. IT. >From this written history it states that John Carroll came to IT with his father when he was around 10, this would be during the Trail of Tears when the Cherokee were removed from the East. He married Susan Ward, a Cherokee woman, and had two sons Hugh and Fincher. Susan Ward died in 1856, he then married Huldah Holcomb, Neosho, MO. This also states John was raised in Cherokee Nation, Hamilton, Meigs area Tn. So, if this history is in the least correct, Hugh Carroll m. Ann Shelton, father of JOhn Carroll was in the Cherokee Nation, Tn, when the removal started. Does anyone have any information of this Carroll family in this area? Thanks, Katy

    3. I am seeking information on Philip CARREL (CARROLL) and his wife Mary (...). They were married about 1796 and their first child John was born 23 April 1798. The other children were Mary, Margaret, Joseph, Anthony Wayne, Catherine, Henry, Jane and Philip. The family was in western PA by 1806 when their 5th child Anthony Wayne Carrel was born. Philip is said to have served under General Anthony Wayne, and later did serve in the War of 1812 when he died as a soldier from Jefferson Co., OH. After his death a court in Ohio appointed Ephraim CELLARS (SELLERS) as administrator of his estate and guardian of his four oldest children. I am searching for any information on Philip and Mary Carrel's descendants, and of Philip Carrel and Mary's families of origin. Thank you, Eric

    3. This is some CARROLL information that does not fit into the CARROLL family I am researching, but it may help someone else. >From the "History of Caldwell Co." (MO) 1886" Since being brought to Caldwell Co., MO. by his parents in 1855, Carroll has continued to reside upon the old family homestead, a place of 230 acres, upon which he raises a good grade of stock, endeavoring as best he can to improve and advance the stock interests of this county. In his farming operations he conbines the practical with the theoretical, his life-long continuance in that calling rendering him capable of doing so. Mr. Carroll has been three times married, and he now has an excellent family of three children. The first marriage was November 11, 1860, when Miss Pauline J. Hatfield of Tennessee became his wife. She was born September 23,1838 and died April 14, 1869, leaving four children: Elmer E., Mary C., Joseph D., and Margaret E. Miss Sarah J. Hatfield became his second wife in 1869. She was also a Tennesseean by birth, born March 19, 1844 and her death transpired January 4, 1881. By this union, there were five children, vis.: William L., Cyrus D., Lucy, Irene, and an infant. November 9, 1881, Mr. Carroll was united in marriage with Miss Mary J. Bashford, who was born in Noble County, Ind., February 5, 1852. Two children were born to them: Albert L. and Kit. Mr. Carroll is of Irish ancestry on his father's side, his father Daniel Carroll, having been a native of County Cavan, Ireland, while his mother came originally from Claiborne County, Tenn. The father was left an orphan when 14 years of age, and not having any family ties to keep kim on that side of the waters, he emigrated to the United States, and about 1838 took up residence in Brown County, Ill., where he was married August 11, 1839, to Miss Catherine Long. His family numbered five children, Margaret, Mary, Jacob and two died in infancy. After following farming in that county until 1855, Mr. Carroll came to this (Caldwell) county, and ever afterwards made his home in New York township. He was an industrious, hard-working man and accumulated considerable property. Before the war he was a Democrat politically, but after that a Republican. He died April 7,1881, sincerely mourned by a host of friends. His widow survives him and lives upon the homestead. Jacob Carroll was born in Brown Co., Ill, May 24, 1841. He is rapidly attaining to no light reputation for his thorough manner of farming, and well deserves his success. He has been holding the position of justice of peace for ten years, with great credit. Formerly a Republical, he is now a Greenbacker in his polical preferences.
