    1. [CARROLL] Patrick & Mary Ann Carroll
    2. Catherine McDonald
    3. My great grandparents moved to Jarrow, NE England sometime before the 1881 cencus, form Ireland. They were from either Ballygriffin, Co. Cork or Sligo area. The info I have is limited, but as follows: Patrick Carroll born Ireland 1846, wife Mary Ann (nee. Higgins) born Scotland (possibly Airdrie?) 1851. They had in 1881 a lodger, Francis Higgins born Ireland 1821, who I assume is a relative of Mary Ann, possibly her father? Their children were Owen, Patrick, James, Sarah, Mary Ann (born 10.3.1892) As far as I know the family remained in North east of England. Any advice on tracing this limited info further would be appreciated. Many thanks, Catherine McDonald _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

Surnames: Quinlan, McConnell, Gilbert, Martin, Gibbons Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1hH.2ACEB/3515 Message Board Post: In April 1857, William Carroll and Rose Clark are listed as the baptismal sponsors for John Joseph Quinlan [1857-1924] at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church with Father E. J. Reilly as the Priest. I am trying to find a connection between the sponsors and the parents of John Joseph Quinlan. John Joseph Quinlan was the second son of Michael Quinlan [1824, County Tipperary, Ireland-1904, Audrain County, Missouri] and Rosa McConnell Quinlan [1831, County Meath, Ireland-1901, Audrain County, Missouri]. Michael Quinlan's father was James J. Quinlan. His mother's maiden name was Martin but her first name is unknown. Rosa McConnell Quinlan's father's name was probably John McConnell. Her mother's maiden name was Gilbert but he first name is unknown. The Quinlan family left New York before July 1860.

You most definitely should look in NC for your missing Sterling. I did not keep all the info, but I think I have seen three. A book of abstracts of the 1820 census of Stokes County had listed a Herling Carroll. However someone looking at the census told me they are sure that is "Sterling". That is the only year he was listed in Stokes County. I believe one Sterling was in Johnston County, and I don't remember where the other one was. I also remember seeing a Starling Carroll in one county, which may actually be Sterling. Lura
