In 1877 he married ANNIE J. SMITH of Shediac NB, and they were the parents of ten children(8 born in NB). The moved to Hennepin Co, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1881 and to Aitkin County MN in 1888. I have seen postings of Carroll families in NB and I hope someone will see a connection to this individual. Unconfirmed sources list his father as WILLIAM JOHN CARROLL and his mother as CATHERINE FAY. Thanks for any help that anyone on the list can give in finding this family. I have a Nancy Ann Carroll in my line, she was my grandmother's grandmother. From a family letter I have which was written by a granddaughter of hers she says that Nancy Ann Carroll was born June 17, 1790 in Fairfax, Virginia. When she was about 21 she married (eloped) with James Clemmons and lived in Virginia until 1815. Then, with their two small children, the went to Hopkinsville, Kentucky where they had seven more children (9) in all. At some time in the early 1830's these young people heard of Texas, of Stephen F. Austin and his famous grants of land. The went by wagon to what is now known as Washington County, Texas. She died in Brenham at the home of her grandaughter on November 26, 1862, age 72 years. Written by Mrs.W.H. Cherry at Giddings, Texas. I have been looking for her parents? Hi, I'm looking for an Andrew J. Carroll b. abt 1838 in TN. I have found on the 1900 Sullivan County, TN census, Andy Carroll age 61, Sally looks like age 30 or 40 (hard to read), May age 12, James age 10, Albert age 6. I had prev. thought my Andrew Carroll was the son of George and Sarah Carroll. George born in VA. But that Andrew was born in 1850 according to the Sullivan County, TN Census of 1880. Looks like I've been barking up the wrong tree for a VERY long time. Does anyone have any possibilities to who the parent's of Andrew b. 1838 are, or possible first wife's name of Andrew's? This Andrew married Sally Sams in 1889, she had 4 children 3 living both born in TN. Looks like the oldest child, May was born before the marriage..Sally Sams may had been married before also.. Since often the mother's maiden name becomes a middle name for a son or daughter, I thought this information might be of value to one of you. Also since the book was written over 125 years ago, it might possibly have some important CARROLL information, if there were CARROLLS in the area. Hope it is helpful to someone. Lura
