    3. Do you have any more information at all about John Carroll? Did he emigrate? If so, where did he settle? Whom did he marry? Any children? It's very difficult when one is looking for such a common name unless there is some info to provide clues. 1. [CARROLL] Steuben county NY Carrolls
    2. chettc1942
    3. I am researching the Carrolls who immigrated from possibly County Cavan Ireland about 1840, and were farmers in the area of Towlesville, Howard, Steuben County NY. There were immigrants- Andrew, Thomas, and Owen. They resided in that area along with some other friends or family who were there beforehand, possibly some Stewarts also Irish.. A sister Nancy supposedly stayed in the NY City area after also immigrating with her 3 brothers. Andrew's son, Burns Thomas Carroll, my grandfather, married Jennie(Jane) Stratton. Many strattons were in the area also. Jennies parents were Oliver and Diantha Stratton. Any comments or info appreciated. Kiond Regards Chet Carroll of W Va

My gggrandparents, Lawrence Carroll and Eliza Swayne were both born in County Cork according to family legend. They married 09/30/1856 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Word is that Eliza was a widow by 1860 with two children and move to Ontario, Canada. She worked for Sir John A. MacDonald the 1st Prime Minister of Canada, as a seamstress. This is definately my brick wall. I have no proof of anything except the stuff from Ohio. Lauramae Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
