James PARSON [Parsons], assignee of Christopher CANTREL, assignee of John T. GOFF, complained that Peter CARRICOE owed him 7.2.3 due by note. Assignment made to PARSON [Parsons] on 25 May 1797. "I promise to pay or cause to be paid unto John T. Goff on his order the just and full sum of 7 pounds, 2 shillings and 3 pence for value received," 19 October 1796. Signed by Peter CARRICOE in the presence of Solomon HALL? June 1800 term of court, judgement for 8 pounds, 6 shillings and 5 pence made for the plaintiff. pages 166-167 -- "11 October 1800. Gentlemen, At your September Court last, there was an order passed appointing me surveyor of the road in the room of Thomas RINEHART and that Martin STEMPLE, Conrad HOLSTINE, Rinehart LOOMERE [Dumire], Peter CARRICO, John CARRICO, Daniel WOOTRING [Wotring], Christean WHITEHARE [Christian Whitehair], John FOY, William HUSK and Stephen MASTERS, those are the persons I wish to have to work under me as they do not work any road. The order passed and sent to me did not mention the road that is to be worked and the hands refuse to work. Your Worships will please to have an order passed to include the above mentioned hands and the hands that worked under RINEHART at the ensuing court and mention in the order to work from Cheat River to the Maryland line. Your Worships attention to this will be much oblige. Yours respectfully, Henry WILES." page 176 -- "Sir; if you would be as kind and try to do something in my favor concerning my commission about the road that you gave me orders, there is but a few hands of us to work the road twenty five miles all together, there is the new road fifteen and the road from GOFF's Mill to the State Road seven and only sixteen hands to work it all together, but there is eight hand more that works a mill path and they have been at it this two years and they have done but a very little of it yet and every time when I go to work on the road they make an excuse they must work their road so that I can't get them to work under me without the law compels them. There is Martin STAMPEL [Stemple], Conrod HOLSTINE, Rinehart SUMTER? [Dumire], Peter CARRICO, John CARRICO, Daniel WOTRING, Christopher WHITEHARE [Whitehair] and John FOYE [Foy] and there is another man by the name of Stephen MASTERS in our district that won't work and be as kind and get one other commission in pertickler [particular] for the road from the mouth of Buffalo on our side until the Maryland Line and in so doing you will oblige your friend and well wisher," 6 September 1800. Volume 5: 1802 - 1805 [1992] page 62 -- "September 1800 Court, Ordered that Henry WILES be appointed Surveyor of the Road in the room of Thos RYNEHART [Rinehart] and that Martin STEMPLE, Conrad HOLSTINE, Rinehart TOOMYER [Dumire], Peter CARRICO, John CARRICO, Daniel Woodring [Wotring], Christopher WHITEHAIR, John FOY and Styubin MARSTERS [Stephen Masters] be appointed to work under the said Henry WILES." On reverse are the names of Jacob JOHN, Davis HARRISS [Harris] and Alexander BRINGAMAN [Bingamon]. page 173 -- 129 - 1803, Monongalia County Court. "Ordered that Peter CARRICO, John CARRICO, Rinehart TOMIRE [Dumire], William TOMIRE [Dumire], Conrod HOLSTINE and David STEMPLE work the road from Peter CARRICO's whereof Martin STEMPLE is appointed surveyor..." July 1803 Court. Volume 6: 1805 - 1808 [1993] page 1 -- 139b - 1802, Monongalia County Court. At a court held 12 March 1800, James PARSONS recovered against Peter CARRICO 8 pounds, 6 shillings and 5 pence debt plus costs. CARRICO summoned to "say why the said James PARSONS aught not to have execution against him" and recover the judgement, 22 September and 1 February 1802. page 143 -- 145b - 1806, Monongalia County Court. Elijah BUTLER summoned to answer John RODEHEFFER [Rodeheaver], assignee of John RAVENSCROFT, in a plea of debt for 7 pounds, 16 shillings and 10 pence ($26.14) and $10 damage, 19 October 1805. Eight month note signed by Elijah BUTLER to RAVENSCROFT for 7 pounds, 16 shillings and 10 pence dated 3 November 1804, payable in horned cattle delivered to New Germany and witnessed by Wm MOSELEY. Assignment to RODEHEFFER [Rodeheaver] dated 10 July 1805 and witnessed by John HALLER. Appearance bond for BUTLER secured by Peter CARRICO, 23 October 1805.
