I believe these ancestors have not been included in most family trees. My Great Great Grandparents are Reason (b. 1794) & Elizabeth (Engle) CARRICO. The children of my 2 great grandparents are Sarah Carrico COWDEN/COX; Josiah Carrico (SP PADGETT & PURCELL), Eliza Carrico DEVORE; William Carrico (SP Mary UNKNOWN & SMITH); Seircy (or Feircy) Carrico; Louvica Carrico SMITH; and Bazil Carrico (SP DEVORE). I have lots of data on most of the collateral families listed above as I am sure that you do. Therefore, I only am submitting to you more detailed information on Reason & Elizabeth's last son and my great grandfather: Bazil Carrico (b. 11 May 1836). Bazil Carrico (b. 11 May 1836-Haddon Twp, Sullivan Co., IN; d. 26 Dec 1925-Vigo Twp., Sandborn, Knox Co., IN) married Elizabeth DEVORE (b. 20 Sep 1840 IN; d. 14 Jun 1924-Vigo Twp., Sandborn, Knox Co., IN) m. 03 Oct 1858-Sullivan Co., IN. They are both buried in Sandborn Cemetery, IN. Elizabeth DEVORE's father was Daniel DEVORE -IN, who was married to Sallie HAMILTON-IN. The Bazil & Elizabeth (Devore) Carrico listed above had six children. Sarah Carrico (b. 1859-Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN) , SP Ben PLUMMER (b. 1856-IN) ; Bazil M. Carrico (b. Apr 1864-Haddon Twp, Sullivan Co., IN), SP Laura UNKNOWN (b. May 1873-IN) with twin sons Lester & Raymond; John Carrico (b. 16 Jul 1867-Sullivan Co., IN, d. 03 Oct 1898-Knox Co., IN, Sandborn Cemetery); Arminda (Mindie) Carrico (b. 10 Feb 1870- Haddon Twp, Sullivan Co., IN, d. 20 Mar 1959-Daytona Beach, Volusia Co., FL-Sandborn Cemetery) SP Henry William COCHRAN (04 Jun 1854-Daviess Co., IN, d. 23 Sep 1935-while on vacation in Sandborn, Knox Co., IN- Sandborn Cemetery) m. 18 Jan 1888-Vincennes, Knox Co., IN (Parents of Henry William COCHRAN: Michael John COCHRAN (b. 1804-Ireland) & Margaret Mary WOODS (b. 1824-Liverpool, England, d. 02 Nov 1872-Prob. IN); Julia Carrico (b. 05 Sep 1874-Sullivan Co., IN, d. 17 Jul 1960 Prob. IN, Sandborn Cemetery); and Osa (O.W.) Carrico (b. 19 Feb 1876-Sullivan Co., IN, d. 17 Jan 1969-Prob IN, Sandborn Cemetery) SP. Cora UNKNOWN (b. 25 Feb 1871-Prob. IN, d. 22 Sep 1945-Prob. IN-Sandborn Cemetery). Since my grandparents were Henry William & Arminda (Mindie) Carrico Cochran, I will also add their six children's names. Arminda had six children, all born in Vigo Twp, Knox Co., IN, three lived to be adults (& are now deceased) and only one of those had children of his own, my father. Arminda (Carrico) Cochran's children: Milton Bradley Cochran(1889-1968 -FL), Infant son Cochran (1892-1892), Grover Cochran (18 Oct 1893-1893-IN), Stroddard Cochran (18 Oct 1893-12 Aug 1904-IN), Ernest E. (Mickey) Cochran-my father (b. 16 May 1901-12 Apr 1974-FL) SP Margaret Helen LOWMAN, (1908-IL-1991-FL), and Dolla Esther Cochran (1904-1990 FL.). I hope someone can fill in collateral or direct family gaps that I might have. Also, if any of you are directly related, I will be glad to share more information that I have. Please be assured that the data I have listed above is documented. Those of you who are Reason & Elizabeth (Engle) Carrico's descendants will note that, purposefully, I have not listed as their last children Elizabeth Cowden Booker or John Booker as issue. I believe from examining various sources that Elizabeth Cowden was in fact the child of Reason's first daughter Sarah (Carrico) Cowden and that John Booker (living later with Reason was, in fact, Elizabeth Cowden Booker's spouse. Would love to hear from any of you regarding what I have submitted. Incidentally, not long ago I remember reading an E-mail that I no longer have from one of you that cited a Mindie Carrico with about the right BD as mine. Hope especially to hear from you. Take care, Jean Margaret Cochran Moeller cochranmia@aol.com --part0_917395927_boundary--

    3. The history of Jersey County, Illinois, lists Marion CARRICO, son of John Clark CARRICO and Winnie Ann VANMETER. He was born September 22, 1850, in English Township, Jersey County, Illinois. Marion CARRICO married Mary Ellen EAST, December 10, 1874. Mary Ellen EAST was born January 10, 1856, to Elisha EAST and Jane WICKS, of Missouri and Cleveland, Ohio, respectively. Jane WICKS was the daughter of William WICKS and Mary DUNHAM, of Pennsylvania. Marion CARRICO died April 3, 1924, aged 73, and was buried in SAX cemetery. I have written to the historical society in Ill, but they have no record of this cemetery. Do any of you know what name it goes by today? Where is it located? John D. Sissom - JDSissom@JUNO.COM

The other query I have is Joseph Carrico b & d dates unknown, m Elizabeth Cambron, b 1803. From that union they had one son, named James b 23 Jan 1831. If anyone has info on these particular people I would appreciate it very much.

    1. [CARRICO-L] Joanna Carrico & Benjamin Thomas Aull
    2. This is my personal research but used many published sources. Probably the best reference sources for the Aull family in Daviess Co are the St Lawrence Baptismal records published by McDowell Publications (http://members.aol.com/sammcpub/index.html) Most all the 2nd thru 5th generations were baptised and/or buried there. Some in St Williams Catholic Cemetery. Below is a bit on the descendants of Joanna Carrico and Benjamin T Aull. The Aull's married heavily with Higdon's including children of Joanna Carrico and Benjamin Thomas Aull. The History of Daviess Co also includes a praragraph or two on Ignatius Aquilla, half brother to Benjamin Thomas Aull, James Aull, brother to Benjmain Thomas and Thomas Edward, son of Joanna Carrico and Benjamin Thomas Aull. Any one interested in more descendants of Joanna Carrico and Benjamin Thomas Aull, let me know, I have 8 generations from Joanna on some lines. Most of the reference sources would be the St Lawrence Baptismal records, census records, the History of DavisCo. It may be possible that Mary and Stephen lived in Stevens Creek, VA in Grayson Co. Does anyone have Mary or her father in their files? Thanks. George gebasden@worldnet.att.net http://www.basden.com

    3. To Carolyn & others, On Tue, 12 Jan 1999 19:24:00 +0000 Shupe <SHUPE@CITCOM.NET> writes: >Just going to chime in here with my Malinda/Verlinda Carrico b. May 12, >1777 Md. That's what this list is for. >Judy Jennings did find a death record at Richmond, Va. which stated Malinda's >parents to be Peter and Catherine Carrico. You, also, ref. it in your letter i.e.: >"Virlinda Wotring, white, female,---dgtr of Peter and Catherine Carrico----" > (some believe death records and some not---I am prone to do so because, in > 30-some years of searching, I have not come up with a Francis <g> --ref. info in >Morton book ) I would trust a record made at the time of death (with the informant being a son) before I would a county history written 57 years after the event occurred. Morton wasn't even a Preston Co native. His family was from Maine. Morton lists Malinda/ Verlinda Carrico and Ann Eliza Carrico who married Thomas Hebb as daughters of Francis Carrico but their parents were actually Peter & Catharine Carrico as shown by more reliable sources. The general opinion is that there are many errors in Morton's book. >Carol Mitchell, I recall, had some information on Monica several month's ago. >(personal letter -not on this List). Hope she will share it with us all. So do I. >Back to Peter Carrico b. 1722 Md.----there lies my problem. Your census >of 1810 has "P. Carrico with l male 16-26 and l female (assume you meant >female) 10-16 and 2 females under 10 ". If this is Peter b. 1722, it is unlikely > (not impossible) that this Peter would be about 78 years old and fathering >children-----this might mean that there was another Peter between the Md. > Peter and my Melinda. Does this make sense??? The 1810 Monongalia Co WV census shows 1 male (rather than female) 10-16 in the household of P(eter) Carrico. This Peter is of a later generation than Peter Jr born 1722. He may be the son of Peter Jr. This is what I'm trying to determine. He is apparently the Peter Carrico mentioned by Morton as being a brother of Francis and Catharine. The children of Peter Carrico Jr b 1722 may (and I stress may) have included: Joseph b 1744, Monica (assuming she is a sister of Catharine) b 1740's? m John Turton Goff, Alexander b 1750 m Mary Sedgewick, Peter [III-my designation] b sometime before 1765 m Catharine ______, Francis, Catharine b 1765-75 m James Goff, others. Morton states Peter, Francis & Catharine had four brothers--one settled in Culpeper Co VA, one settled [or remained?] in Charles Co MD and one settled in KY [Alexander?]. The fourth brother is apparently Joseph whom Morton does not name. BTW, does anyone have a list of the children of Peter Sr's son John who married Monica ______? The Homer Edwin Carrico material only names one known child, a son James. >I have the book Aurora Documents by (he preferred "translated") Carl >Gower/Gauer? Ana Elisa Carrico's baptism is in the book. (Lutheran >Church Records of Aurora, Preston Co., WVa.) I have this book also (the author is Karl Gower) and made an every name index to it. Daniel & Malinda/Verlinda Wotring are referred to as Daniel & Linni, Daniel & Worlinda, Daniel & Worlindra and Daniel & Worlintra in the baptismal records. Remember, these records were translated from the German. In my extractions of the Preston Co vital records 1853-1860 (this was almost a translation also), I found some names were used interchangeably. These include Malinda and Belinda, Louisa and Eliza, Christian and Christopher, Jehu and John and sometimes Daniel and David. >Have fun all!!! >Carolyn You, too. Hope I have been of some help. (I probably just have enough knowledge of the Carricos to make me dangerous!) 2. George Basden
    3. Having just discovered a major breakthru I thought I would give this a shot. I discovered my grandmother had a younger sister who is still alive!! My grandmother's death certificate indicates her mother was Mary Carrico and father was Stephen Wilcox. My grandaunt informs me that Mary's father was Andrew Winton Carrico. My grandmother was born in 1891. I have no idea when Stephen and Mary married or where they were married. Stephen died in a Methodist retirement home for retired Methodist ministers late 1950s or early 1960s. Mary died before him but I have no idea when. I do not know when Stephen and Mary got married. I have been told that he was a farmer in Friese, VA. My grandaunt tells me they left VA in abt 1904 to move to IL where Stephen became a Methodist minister. Wondering if anyone has these two Carrico's in their database. George gebasden@worldnet.att.net http://www.basden.com

    1. [CARRICO-L] Carricos in DC
    2. I am trying to trace the lineage of the Carrico family in the District of Columbia. Mac Hathway suggested that you may be able to assist. There are numerous Carrico's buried at Congressional Cemetery and Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Washington D. C. We have traced my family back to William B. Carrico, born about 1782 in Maryland. It would seem that we should be able to link him with one of the grandchildren to the original Peter Carrico but have had no luck. We have also found others: Thomas Carrico residing near Bryantown, MD, in 1839, sends two sons to Georgetown College. James Carrico marries Mary Owens in DC in 1816. James R Carrico marries Susan Marilor in DC in 1830. John Carrico marries Jane O'Brien in DC in 1815. Peter B. Carrico marries Mary Johnson in DC in 1813 Peter G. Carrico b. DC 1819, marries Elizabeth Bradley in DC in 1844 William Carrico marries Sophrenia Dorvel in DC in 1836 William H Carrico b. DC abt 1828, marries Rosilla Mohune, 1856, and Margaret Masters, 1863, both in DC. We have no information connecting any of these Carricos to their ancesters. Does anyone have any history on these individuals, or any and other Carrico family history for DC or SE MD for the late 1700's or early 1800's? We would appreciate any assistance.
