I was sitting by the fire today browsing thru a book called Uppity Women of the New World and there is a short article about a woman named Mary Peck Butterworth, who counterfeited the paper money of Massachusetts and neighboring colonies, in the early part of the 18th century, aided by her brother, Israel Peck and his wife Hannah. They were arrested in August of 1723 but no physical evidence was found, so they were released. I wonder if they were connected with any of the Carpenters of Rehoboth. Sounds like a good one to hang from one's family tree.
