Discharged October 21, 1780. He married Mary Thompson in New Hampshire. Pension record - W file #18870 for widow. Certificate #7972 issued 1846. Act of 1838 allowed ??30 per year. Soldier applied for pension 1832 and it was allowed. Nine months as a private in Mass. Line, under Cap Jacob Fuller and Colonel John Jacob's regiment at enlistment he resided at Rehoboth, Mass. His widow, aged 86, in 1846 was allowed pension in Richmond, New Hampshire. Data from Mr. Emma Carpenter Wainman of Bainbridge. He died on 26 Aug 1840 in Portville, Cattaraugus, NY. Number 1839 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 252. Family on page 794 & 795 (#1719). He moved from Rehoboth to Richmond, NH thence to Cooperstown, NY and died in Portville, NY. One record has him born in 1762. His grandaughter Marcia Boardman, states that the record of the marriage of Mary to Luman indicates that Capt. Daniel Carpenter of the Revolution gave her away. A Parchment which he was given his commision was in possesion of Marcia, and she indicated he drew a pension for many years. Records in Washington show that a Daniel Carpenter served as a private in the New Hampshire Militia, commanded by Col. Nichols in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted 9 July 1780 and was discharged 21 Oct 1780 with a time of service of 3 months and 13 days. He witnessed the execution of Major Andre on 2 Oct. 1780 and he deeply regretted the act, saying that Andre was a noble looking man. He was a commisioned a Captain in the Militia between the close of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Residence Homer, Olean & Portville NY. She was named Mary after her mother, but called Molly as a child then Polly as an adult. She married Luman Rice and had seven children. Mary married (MRIN:6027) Luman Rice-14078, son of Eliphalet Rice Deacon-14079 (MRIN:6030), on 10 Dec 1810 in Olean, , NY. Luman was born on 18 Jan 1787 in Glastonbury, , CT. He died on 18 Jun 1874 in Portville, , NY. Luman lost his left hand in landing an ark laden with plaster on the Susquehanna river. He threw a cable around a tree in catching it in his left hand, the end of the cable being untwisted and it caught around his hand. To save himself from being drawn around the tree he braced with his right hand and his left hand was pulled off at the wrist. The cords (tendons) were also drawn out up to his elbow which required the arm too be ambutated just above the elbow. This prevented him from working at his trade as a house carpenter. Later, when building his home, on his 40th birthday, he made a door with six panels. 5 M iv. Daniel Carpenter-14071 was born about 1795 in Richmond, Cheshire, NH. Number 8527 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 795. Family on page 804 (#1750). Daniel married an Eliza, at least two children. Daniel married (MRIN:6028) Eliza-14199 about 1819. Eliza was born about 1795. 6 M v. Issac Carpenter-14072 was born about 1798 in Richmond, Cheshire, NH. Number 8528 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 795. Probably died young. No mention of family. 7 F vi. Anna Carpenter-14073 was born on 28 Jul 1801 in Homer, , NY. She died on 20 Apr 1869/1871 in Allegany, , NY. Number 8529 in the Carpenter Memorial on page 795. She married a Mills and had nine children. Anna married (MRIN:6029) Samuel Humphrey Mills-14080 in 1823 in , , NY. Samuel was born about 1790/1802 in of Cherry Valley, , NY. He died in Jul 1828 in Cincinnati, , OH.
