    1. Re: Revisions to Amos B. Carpenter's book
    2. << One author mentioned a work by Herbert F. Seversmith, _Colonial Families of Long Island, New York and Connecticut_, 5 vols. (Washington, D.C., 1939-1958). They also referenced _The American Genealogist_, vol. 70 (1995). Have I listed these references correctly? And are there any other works where we might find reliable revisions? >> Look for extensive revisions to several sections of the Carpenter Memorial and to other secondary sources in two articles that will appear in the January 2005 issue of _The New England Historical and Genealogical Register_. Also, beware that Seversmith's original research was limited mostly to the John3 line. With few exceptions, he otherwise repeats the work of Amos B. Carpenter (for which he wisely takes no responsibility) and, in the case of the Abiah3 line, that of the deForests (_James Cox Brady and His Ancestry_). The latters' work on Abiah3 and his children (better than ABC's but not without problems) is addressed (along with that of others) in one of the aforementioned _Register_ articles. Gene Z.
