All I know for sure is that he was born in CT in 1799 or 1800, lived in Hanibel NY, and then Lima, NY before going to Michigan in 1832. Hannibal, Oswego Co., N.Y., is only about 40 miles due west of Rome and Vienna, Oneida Co., where your Eber's possible father, Daniel Carpenter, lived in 1818 and 1820, respectively. Have you checked (1) Oswego Co. land records to see if Eber's initial grantee deed indicates his previous residence, or if it doesn't, (2) Oneida Co. deeds to see if he had owned land there? Also, since you seem to know the names of Eber's children, can any of the more distinctive ones be matched up with a particular family of Connecticut Carpenters? Gene Z.
