He started in Alstead,Cheshire,NH. Dr Carpenter practice started to grow in the following years especially in 1812 when his friend and fellow physical Dr Bliss died. Probably from the spotted fever epidemic widespread in this area at that time. Often taking in medical students to assist with chores ,examinations, surgery as needed, and even tending the horse and carriage. Of these was 4 of his sons,1 nephew and eventually a grandson. Dr Carpenter was appointed by the Governor of New Hampshire Brigadier Inspector of the militia and Justice of the Peace Carpenter, Eben, Dr. Dr. Eben Carpenter was born in Coventry, Conn., in 1780, married Judith Green, and reared a family of nine children.
