    3. I ran across this Carpenter bible on Ebay. I suppose if it is one of your family it may be worth it. The blurb about it says in part - an 1832 copy of THE HOLY BIBLE,containing; the OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS together with THE APOCRYPHA,as published by H.& E.Phinney of Cooperstown,NY. Cover is in very poor condition(back has come unattached),and first few pages are torn. However, what caught my attention was the fact that this bible must of belonged to a family named "CARPENTER",as the pages for adding family information such as births, deaths, marriages have been filled in with names such as; Hope Carpenter,Benjamin Carpenter,Phebe Yost,Daniel Dewitt Carpenter,Garner Carpenter, and others. Also found, stuffed within the pages of the bible were; loose handwritten pages containing names & dates of Carpenter marriages & deaths, and a copy of an obituary for Daniel Dewitt Carpenter of Adrian Michigan. Just thought someone would find it of interest. My apologies if this is not listworthy. Tim Stowell

    3. Tim, I'm sure there will be someone from that line who would be interested. I my research I found a whole bunch of Carpenters still in the area. Adrian is in Lenawee County, Michigan. Things like this are always list worthy. -----Original Message----- From: carpenter-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:carpenter-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tim Stowell Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2007 7:42 PM To: carpenter@rootsweb.com Subject: *****SPAM***** [CARPENTER] Carpenter bible I ran across this Carpenter bible on Ebay. 3. This is good information. Thanks. One thing to watch for in the U.S. records, is that Loyalists were disowned, and even their departures for Canada were not recorded. The division of families was as traumatic and vicious as it was in the Civil War, 90 years later. I believe my Carpenter roots went from Rehoboth to Hempstead, LI, to NJ, and thence to Canada. Still trying to string together all the beads, but I have both ends of the string. I have a hunch the records might be somewhere in the Canadian Maritimes - the Brits took what records they had when they evacuated New York City. From New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, many of the Loyalists petitioned for more tillable land in Upper Canada, now Ontario, and settled south of Toronto (including my immediate Carpenter ancestors). My point is, that some of pre-Revolution family lines that seem to "daughter out" or just disappear, may be found again in Canada and worked backward from there. Just a suggestion - Best regards, John Edward Carpenter, Reading Massachusetts (Grandson of John Brock Carpenter of Woodhouse Township, Norfolk County, ON - Just by the name, it's clear they were UEL. Someday I have to visit!) -----Original Message----- From: carpenter-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:carpenter-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of John R.
