Capitals are mine. Also have you done a Persi search (also in Heritage Quest) using "Carpenter and Pennsylvania" as your search terms. I found 9 interesting looking magazine articles. Unfortunately I believe there is a charge for them, and they might not be "yours". At my local library today, while searching for my Pennsylvania Grahams I kept an eye out for Pennsylvania Carpenters. Found a book titled "Colonial & Revolutionary Families of Pennsylvania" vol. 1 that had a pretty good family listing for Samuel Carpenter on pages 469 to 479, under Carpenter & Preston families. "Notes and Queries" is proving to be a disappointment after an promising beginning, but I'm still plugging through it looking for Carpenter and Graham.
