My Samuel line has Johns and Thomasses but none of the other lines. I am going to start posting one little line at a time to see if I ger any help. I am trying to put together the Samuel Carpenter line for John R. Carpenter's CD, complete with sources. I need a lot of help in the early years to put some flesh on the people. With this being a new year I thought that I would post my Carpenter line to see if I can get any hits. Some of you already know my Carpenter line and also know that I'm stuck on my John Carpenter born abt. 1802 in New York. I have no clues as to who his parents were or who his wife might have been. I know that John migrated West and the first proof of this is in Indiana, Fayette County. John then migrated to Iowa with his two children. John lived in Scott County, Iowa and then off to Jasper County, Iowa. I have read info saying that John may have moved to Marshall County, Iowa too. John can be found in the census records living with Jon and Rosanna Porter. There seems to be a strong relationship between these two families. In fact John's son Dennis married the Porter's Daughter Lucinda Porter in 1856. John lived with these Porter's long before this marriage. I've lost track of my John Carpenter after the 1870 Jasper County, Iowa census records. Here's my Carpenter line. John Carpenter Born abt. 1802 - New York Died: Iowa Married: ? Dennis Carpenter Born: July 20th 1832 - Fayette County, IN. Died: July 11th 1902 - Letan, Box Butte, Nebraska Elmer Ellsworth Carpenter Born: June 29th 1862 - Cedar County, Iowa Died: Jan. 23rd 1900 - Pierce Nebraska Elmer Roy Carpenter Born: Oct. 1897 - Nebraska Died: 1962 - Fort Dodge, Iowa Robert Thomas Carpenter Born: March 29th 1931 Fort Dodge, Iowa Died: June 2nd 1994 - Fort Dodge, Iowa.
