I recently rec'd some kind help for the Sturgis Library in St. Joseph county Michigan; copy of a 1982 obituary of JOSEPH D. CARPENTER of Centreville MI. It turns out this Joseph is not the one I expected (and hoped), but perhaps the info may prove useful to someone else here on the list. JDC died August 23, 1982 at the age of 82. He was born in Seymour, Indiana Sept 20, 1899, according to the obit. (Soc Sec Death Index had him born 1894, perhaps in a confusion with the Joseph Carpenter I sought...whom I know was born in that prior year.) He married Fannie Eicher Aug 28, 1919 in Berne IN. They had 5 daughters (Mary, Bertha, Esther, Ann, Edna) and 3 sons (Joseph Jr, Marcus J, James J.). JDC had 2 brothers, six sisters, four foster sisters, 3 foster brothers (Amstutz). funeral services were at the Locust Grove Mennonite Chruch in Findley.
