Hi Charlie: Combing through old files, I find your message from back in August, citing Daniel Hoogland Carpenter's "Carpenter Family in America." You report Page 168 refers to Robert Carpenter, son of Abel, born probably in NYC about 1785; wife unknown; children Richard F., Carman R., John Reeve, Elizabeth. I can scarcely imagine how I failed to hop on this info immediately. But here I am, following-up at last. First, ANY Carman Carpenter has to be a hot candidate for my search; second, one son of "my" Carman Carpenter (Orange County NY, c1750-1811) married Abigail Reeve(s). Thus, finding a CARMAN/CARPENTER/REEVE juxtaposition is quite invigorating! So I'm really eager to learn more about this line. (Is it part of your own line?). I do not have DHC's book. What else does it give about any of the above-named? Abel's parentage? Siblings of Abel or Robert? Spouses or offspring, or locations of the kids? Facts, clues, surmise...are all welcome. Are Robert or Abel cited in any other Carpenter genealogies? Is Carman R. Carpenter cited in any Carman genealogies? Robin C.
