I made a fantastic Carpenter history discovery, a result of my lack of skill in reading the Curia Regis Rolls. Only twenty-five percent of the entry items use the patronym Carpenter, while the other seventy-five percent use only first names. Why was I so dumb? The seventy-five percent I had overlooked are full of precise detail. Geoffrey Carpenter is clearly the first Carpenter(of importance) in England. Adam was his son. Geoffery's son John was justiciary of Ireland. This can explain the later Carpenters in Ireland like Alexander.Ralph and Roger were Geoffery's sons. Son John had property in London. The Alexander, Hugh, John and Walter that were seen in Middlesex are directly of this group. BC
