    1. Re: seeking parents of Susan H. Carpenter - Maine

    3. Dear Patty, I can't give you any clear answer, but my direction would be to look at the descendants of Nicholas 708 from A.B. Carpenter's Memorial book. I cannot find any reference to Susan in the Carpenter Memorial, but the parents of Matthew Hale Carpenter were Ira Carpenter and Esther Ann Luce Carpenter. She died at age 33 in 1835 and was the daughter of a minister "of some repute". There is no mention of a Susan in the Memorial who fits the time frame and conditions of your query. They were listed in the Memorial with Cephas, Anne, and Esther in addition to MHC Since the Carpenter line of Nicholas is populated all over the territory from Newfield to Saco and particularly North Waterboro, If you want to connect Susan, I would pursue her as a member of that line. Although I was just there for several weeks, I didn't see any Susan in the records, but I didn't go to York County records or pursue births in Saco. The Carpenter who went from Waterboro to Saco, was Benjamin #1767 and since he had several sons whose families were not recorded in the Carpenter Memorial, I would look to the birth records of Saco for Susan as a daughter of one of these sons. I assume though from your e-mail that Susan's line is not interesting for you if it is not related to the Ira Carpenter-Esther Ann Luce of Moretown,VT. HTH!
