Sheila, I have Carpenters that came from Vermont. John Carpenter b.1786 probably Dover, Vermont. He married Lucena Thompson from Brownington, Vermont. They moved to Ohio. Their son - Richard Carpenter was born in Dover Vermont in 1827. He married Mary Jane Dimick from York, New York I don't have a Henry Carpenter, however Dover is not too far from Bennington so maybe we can make a connection with more info.
