    1. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter (from Attleboro, MA to TN)
    2. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter (1773-1853) was born in Attleboro, MA the son of Deacon Cyril Carpenter (1743-1811) and his wife, Lucy Lane. He was a grandson of Josiah and Huldah (Walker) Carpenter, great-grandson of Obadiah and Deliverance (Preston) Carpenter, great-great grandson of William and Miriam (Sale) Carpenter, and great-great-great grandson of William and Abigail (Briant) Carpenter, who came over on the "Bevis" in 1638. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter married Hannah Brown in 1795 in Attleboro, MA. Hannah Brown (1770-1869) was a daughter of Noan and Deborah (Wilmarth) Brown, granddaughter of William and Rebecca (Follett) Brown, great-granddaughter of James and Margaret (Denison) Brown, great-great granddaughter of James and Lydia (Howland) Brown, and great-great-great granddaughter of John and Dorothy Brown, of Wannamoisett, first of the Brown family to MA. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter was a Methodist minister and among the first "circuit riders" in the states of KY and TN. An article I wrote on The Reverend Timothy Carpenter and his wife, Hannah (Brown) Carpenter appeared in the February, 1995 issue of THE MAYFLOWER QUARTERLY. At the end of their long lives, they found themselves residing in McMinn County, Tennessee. I hope this contributes to the list of "Rehoboth Carpenters" who settled in the South.
