I suspect that these DeRuyter CARPENTERs are my folks. I also see that there is a Betsey CARPENTER, whose father is William CARPENTER (both of DeRuyter). Betsey was married in 1811, which makes her a likely sister of my John CARPENTER, b. 1797 in VT! If I can establish their siblinghood (?), then I have finally found a very important part of my family, esp. John's long-lost father. Leaves a wife 2 sons 1 dau. surviving; was father of 10 children only three living Carpenter, William d. Lincklean, Mon .in his 84th y. He was m. 3 times; last wife and 3 ch. survive.
