    1. Usher's Carpenters
    2. Robin Carpenter
    3. I just this week received some excerpts from James Usher's "GENEALOGICAL and HISTORICAL RECORD of the CARPENTER FAMILY" of 1883. Its title page says it's about the descendants of both the Rehoboth and Providence Williams. But on pp 30-32, Usher describes a line of Carpenter I've not heard of before. Briefly: Ezra (1570 - ?) Wales, England Richard (? - ?) Ephraim (1623 - ?) Timothy (1665 - ?) Immigrant to America 1678 m. Mercy Coles of Glen Cove NY John C. b. 1690 Huldah b. 1692 Jephtha b. 1693 Benjamin b. 1696 Timothy(2) b. 1698 m. Phoebe Carpenter (desc R.I. Carpenters) ...and so on. What I'm wondering is this: (a) is this an entirely separate line of immigrant Carpenters? Up to now I've only known of three immigrant lines...William of Rehoboth, William of Pawtuxet, and the German-Swiss Zimmerman/Carpenters of Lancaster PA. And then (b) if Usher is describing a 3rd and distinct line (distinct, i.e., aside from intermarriage with other lines as for Timothy(2) above), am I the only one in the dark about this? I do recognize some familiar names in the Usher tree, as with Zeno Carpenter (b.1672) and Seaman Carpenter (b.1760), but these names are familiar (to me) because they also show up in the Mosketo Cove (ex. Pawtuxet) line...via Timothy(2)'s marriage to Hannah Carpenter of Mosketo Cove. Any help out there? Robin
