    1. Carpenter family history
    2. This has been a very difficult family line. I'll share what I know, hoping someone has more information. Sometime in this Carpenter's history they migrated from France to England. Three brothers - William, John and Unknown came to America - RI. John and William moved on to New York and bought land from the Holland Land Purchase (have no dates thus far except for the fact that one of John's sons was born in RI in 1774). John's children were Caleb, John, and Sophia (Caleb the one that was born in 1774). Caleb married Rhoda Dyer (perhaps in l795) and had the following children: John, Dyer (b 1799 in Batavia NY), Samuel, Daniel, Jeremiah, Nettie, Anna and Mary. Then Rhoda dies. Caleb marries a widow, Rebecca Olds probably in Genesee County NY. The family moves to Ohio in the area of Huron, Richmond, Seneca Counties. Caleb and Rebecca had three children: Amasa Green, Charles and Rebecca J. I have names of all the children of these people. Was hoping this little line would slip neatly into one of the established Carpenter families from RI or MA - but so far I can't find a fit. Any help appreciated and will gladly share all my information. PS: in some information I found, someone had put the following migration pattern in their records: RI; VT; NY; OH Penny from Nebraska
