Just found was a longish document listing John Carpenter and Robert Carpenter, brothers of Town Clerk John, as tennants of Thomas, Duke of Gloucester in the reign of King Richard II. To those of you Carpenters not yet bored by the subject, this is an unbelievable find with all kinds of economic details and political implications.
