Here's my 3 cents: 1. The recent vicious attack was crude and utterly inappropriate. Shame. 2. Although I have enjoyed the debates about our most ancient forebears as much as anyone, I suddenly have grave doubts about the veracity and reliability of all that went before. In spite of all the protestations of ultimate vindication by "history," it's clear there are some very deep and very dark motivations shaping the whole effort. Suddenly, the assertions are just too clouded by obvious ill-will and (now) explicit desire to recognize only suitable facts and admirable ancestors. 3.
