Dear COusins, I'm trying to find more info on my gr-gr-gr grandfather Jerry (Jeremiah) Carpenter, and his father Ensley (or E.A. or Ansley or Ancil, depending on who's spelling it). I can find them in Hawkins County TN in 1840. They later moved to Whitley Co., KY, and then later censuses show Jerry in Knox or Bell County. Both Ensley and Jerry were "doctors" although I doubt that they had much formal training. If anyone can give me any clues to either their origins, or further descendants, I'd be most grateful. Here's the info that I do have: other than Elizabeth Hamblin Rose being Jerry's first wife, I'm not sure abt the order of the other 3. My grandmother told me he had 7 all told!
