For all you Northern Michigan researchers heres a fantastic newspaper index that our local college (Northwestern Michigan College) has online. The Osterlin Library has a computerized and a paper index covering the Traverse City Record-Eagle as well as several other newspapers from this area of Michigan. The URL to the College and Record-Eagle is: http://www.nmc.edu/~library/res/others.html In order to get the index to work correctly you will have to download the FREE TeraTerm program. Then follow the instructions from Dave Dahlquist the College Librarian to configure TeraTerm. After that it works fine. If you are lucky to find an ancestor the cost of the newspaper article is only 10cents plus $3.00 postage and handling.
