EARLY USA CARPENTERS The following are records of some early Carpenters in the US. It seems everyone wants to connect to the RI Carpenters, but some of us had to come from other lines. Does anyone have the lineage or info on any of the following persons that would lead to SC or GA ? INDENTURED SERVANTS TO "VIRGINIA" 1659 : William Carpenter ...... from The Hay, Brecon 1662 : John Carpenter 1667 : John Carpenter INDENTURED SERVANTS TO "MARYLAND" 1684 : William Carpenter ...... from Yorke 1719 : Henry Carpenter ........from Ireland INDENTURED SERVANT TO "PENNSYLVANIA" 1722 : Job Carpenter .......... from Northants (North Hants?) Indentures usually lasted 3 to 5 years, so these men could have been on their own shortly after coming to the US. LAND GRANTS: 1657 : Phillip Carpenter was given 1000 acres in the Potomac freshes (non-salt water) in 1657 for transportation of 7 persons. 1658 : Francis Carpenter who had a land grant, also on the Potomac freshes. Unless all 8 of these persons died without heirs or went back to England/Ireland, they must have descendants. TWO MORE WHO MAY OR MAY NOT BE CARPENTERS: 1632 : Silvestor TATNUM record with reference to "Caponter" was in Martins Hundred, VA. 1624 : Thomas PASMERE whose trade was a carpenter, was in James City, VA. THE MISSING 100 YEARS My Carpenter ancestor was in SC circa 1806-1810 being born about 1780. This means there is only about a 100 year gap to the men who first came to the US. Obviously, most records are gone, but MAYBE someone out there has information on these first settlers that can help connect my line. Did your ancestor have a Reuben or Thomas Carpenter born circa 1780s that dissappeared about 1800? If so, would love to hear from you. Ellis Island, the great national landmark and irreplaceable American icon, is in dire need of repair and your help. From 1892 to 1954, the island served as a gateway into the United States for over 12 million people from all over the world. Today nearly 40% of all Americans can trace their roots to Ellis Island. In 1954, the island was closed but not protected from the elements of weather. In the 1990's, the main building was renovated and reopened as a museum, but much of the historic site still remains closed to the public. _http://www.weareellisisland.com_ (http://www.weareellisisland.com/) ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

The world is full of books giving advice about eating, but most of them shouldn't be taken too seriously. Note that the major blood types exist in apes as well as humans, so there is no such thing as a localized geographical origin for any of them. The blood types spread across the world from before the beginning of humanity. John Chandler

The best place to view Carpenter cranial shapes would be the photos in "The Carpenter Memorial" by brachycephalic Amos Carpenter. I would say at least 80% share in the characteristic. Bruce
Koestler's book is not anti-semitic and is read and enjoyed by many Jews. Koestler was himself a Jew. The website may be anti Israel, but that doesn't subtract from the book. Read the book. Ignore the website. Bruce carpenter

John, Here's a link to give you an idea of the inheritance factors in blood types. http://www.drgreene.com/21_59.html Blood is usually typed in 2 ways: according to the ABO groupings, and according to the Rhesus factor (expressed as Rh negative or Rh positive). Certain blood types are dominant, & others are recessive. What blood type you have depends on your parents' blood types. Of course, there are many, many subgoupings that are used to identify tissue & blood types now, as needed for matching transplant tissues. With regard to transfusions, everyone can receive blood type O negative in an emergency, so if you're that blood type, please donate!
