They include: Long Island; Los Angeles; Ft. Rosecrans; Golden Gate; San Francisco; and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Some interments, therefore, will not be listed. Arlington National Cemetery records are also available for interments that occurred after 1999. As more records are added to the database, more burial information will become available. Some state veterans cemeteries can also be searched." http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1

    1. 3 in Sullivan County
    2. Analytix: RobinC
    3. Hello Carpenters: I have recently found intriguing reference to three Carpenters in Sullivan County NY in the early 1800s. John Willard Johnston's Reminiscences says the tax roll of Town of Lumberland in 1816 lists a James Carpenter, John Carpenter, and Joseph Carpenter. A nearby passage says James was also assessed in 1814, but not in 1818. Also mentioned nearby are William Wells and Jesse Wells, which reminded me of James Carpenter ABC #308, son of Solomon in nearby Goshen (Orange County) NY, who ABC says married a Mary Wells. So maybe these three are familiar Carpenters from Orange County? Does anyone have any info that would either link or de-link these three Carpenters to the Orange County families? Robin

    1. To all volunteers in NY
    2. Below is an email I received from my good friend John Martino. John spearheads all the volunteer projects going on in NY for the advancement of Genealogy research. He has already made some great achievements. To all volunteers Look what we did! We put 1,400,000 death records on the Internet. The years that this latest searchable database cover the years 1891 to 1911. These are the difficult years to do look-ups. The microfilm has to be viewed by each month and each county. Now you can put a name in and the computer will search the entire database. New Project We are presently working on a similar project that has caused us all great difficulty. It is the New York City Bride's Index. This index is alphabetical by the first two letters of the bride's family name. Most of us give up after a few minutes with this microfilm. The New York City Municipal Archives has allowed us to have the original index cards to use for typing. We have the records for Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. from 1871 to 1937. We will get Manhattan and Richmond after we have completed these counties. We need volunteers to help complet this most important project. If you can help us, we will make arrangements to get the cards to you to do this work at home. Contact: John Martino 631 368-8174 or [email protected]

    1. [CARPENTER] David Carpenter -- b. 1811
    2. Numerous David Carpenters are listed in the Carpenter Family Memorial. I do not have time to look through the book right now for your David, although a quick hunt in the indexes for the surname Brunson (or Bronson) and for Zeno Carpenter came up empty-handed. If I get a chance this weekend, I'll try to check it for you. Happy Ancestor Hunting! Coralie J. Allen

    1. [CARPENTER] Richard Carpenter -- Family Memorial p. 801
    2. In the Carpenter family Memorial, the family group entry (#1734) for Richard Carpenter(9) reads as follows: ----------------- Richard Carpenter (9) 1432, of Daniel 557, William 18, Noah 38, Elisha 161, Daniel 557 Gen 9. Children 7, b. in Readsboro, Vt. Irregular family. No. of family not given to Richard's name. richard's wife was Annie; he was among the first settlers of Readsboro, Vt. [Children:] 8609 1. Calvin was b. Aug. 1, 1816; m. Rosina Jay, April, 1838, she d. about 20 years ago [i.e., about 1876]; he d. March 26, 1897. He bacame a resident of Wilmington, Vt. in 1868. About 12 years before he died he became totally blind. He enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He was a man of strict integrity. He was frequently elected to various places of trust and always discharged his duties faithfully and conscientiously. --------------------- Immediately following this entry is the notation: ---------------------- Nos. from 8610 to 8615 are dropped. ---------------------- Then follows the family group record (1735) for Calvin. Neither Richard nor his son Calvin show an entry for a son named John. Going back to the family entry for his father David, we find Richard's entry to read: ---------------------- 1432 IV. Richard was b. about 1787 or 1788; d Nov. 21, 1881, aged 93 or 94 years. Residence, Readsboro. Elected representative of that town in 1822; also held the office of justice of the peace. ---------------------- Nobody named John was listed among his siblings, either. Hope the above helps.
