Greetings: Is anyone especially familiar with the cluster of CARNEY families in PHILADELPHIA ca: 1860? From several John Carneys in the 1860 census, trying to figure which one... ...marries Bridget Mellen and in Philadelphia have JOHN, JR. c. 1864, Mary Ann c. 1868, Margaret c. 1870; then to Lowell, Massachusetts for BERNARD in 1872 and PATRICK ca. 1873. JOHN, JR. m. Ellen Doherty and has Alice (1897) and a gone-missing Hugh Carney (1898), who might die in Wingdale, Dutchess County, New York, or NYC. BERNARD has 6 children, including a surviving Margaret, Joseph and Jennie, and moves to Methuen, MA. Joseph probably dies November, 1977. Margaret Carney, born February 1874, marries William Quigley, and they have Paul (4), William (2) and Frances (1 mo) by the 1920 census. PATRICK remains a mystery. Thanks, Bill namesleuth@aol.com
