    1. [CARNEY-L] Re:Huntones in Canandaigua
    2. I don't know quite how to respond, but I just found your message regarding the Huntones in Canandaigua, New York. I have used this website a couple years ago, and found no information. I was surprised to say the least when I stumbled over the messages this weekend. I have recently started my quest again because my younger brother is interested now. It is quite disheartening to see how small our family is. Very little information at all, there is little or no information earlier than the greatgrandparents. Let me introduce myself, my name is Beth Huntone. I am the daughter of Albert(Pat or Patty when he was young) Brisbee Huntone Jr. I am the eldest of two children, my brother Patrick is seven years younger than me. He has a daughter that is eight years old now, Ashley Marie. I never meant my grandfather, Albert Sr. But my father did know about your family, I believe he had mentioned two girls in the second marriage. My father passed away when I was 19, from a heart attack. The men in the family seem afflicted with bad hearts and often suffer heart attacks in their 40's and 50's, the women too have trouble with heart conditions. I am not sure if you are looking for current relatives or just family history. Alice Lostow has been able to tell me a little about the family, she is in her 90's now and lives in the Clifton Springs area. She is certain that the Huntone name was not changed. She claims we have French/Canadian Indian ancestry, my greatgrandfather being Mohawk. I also have Tuscaurora on my father's maternal side. I have been involved with some volunteer activities over the years in the local Indian community, and know from the pics Alice has, of her father and brothers, that we are Indian. I know of the Dempsey grandmother also, and have an older cousin, Ray, that has followed that line in researching the family line. An interesting tidbit from Alice: The name Brisbee came from a lady that helped the family when they lived in the Bristol/Naples area. My greatgrandfather and mother were so thankful that they used her name. I talked to my mother about this, and it seems fitting for the ! time. There were many wealthy ladies that had charities or causes that they belonged to and worked for. Our theory is that this kind lady offered help to the family, probably because they were poor and/or Native American. I don't know much more than that, but would like the time later to research more thoroughly. I would be interested in talking to you, seeing as how you are my half-aunt by relation. :O) Beth
