Hi Bill -- Hope all is well with you! I'm planning a trip to England and Scotland in October, and was wondering if you had any ideas on research places I may be able to visit, e.g., in Birmingham? Maybe get some info that will be useful to both of us ... Take care! Pat
Well, since you asked... :-) Apparently there is a record of a marriage at St Martin chuch, Birmingham, Warwick, England dated 28 Jan 1845 between Patrick Carney and "Catharine Doley" (Catherine Dooley). I've had people look at the LDS microfilm and tell me what it says, but none of the three saw the same thing in the faded films. I don't want to write what they saw, as it might prejudice you when you saw it. This may be the marriage of our ancestor Patrick and Catherine Carney, and would explain why his first few kids were born in England. "Our" Patrick would have been 18/19 at the time, and Catherine keeps lying about her age all through her life. Must be a family gene, as my mother was 29 for over two decades. ;-) Anyhow, if you manage to make it to B'ham and have a few moments and can see the original source documents, I'd appreciate a quick transcription. I'd go myself, you see, but my wife prefers the warmer climate, like Barbados... > -----Original Message----- > From: PMHudak@aol.com [mailto:PMHudak@aol.com] > Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2001 9:13 AM > To: CARNEY-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [CARNEY-L] Michael Carney of Bay City, Michigan > > > Hi Bill -- > > Hope all is well with you!
