Seeking anyone who has done research on - Michael Carney, born abt 1834 , died April 6, 1883 in Bay City, Michigan USA. married to Mary (Carney) (died between 1914 and 1920 in Bay City). Sons James (born abt 1861 in England) and John (born abt 1864 in England, according to the 1880 census) Michael's occupation was a brickmason, as was my ancestor who lived in Bay City at the same time, Patrick J. Carney. Michael's entry in the Michigan death index says that his parents were named Rodger and Margaret Carney. My records from Patrick's death and other third-party sources note that his father was "Rudolph", but his marriage entry in Birmingham, England states that his father's name was Rodger. Patrick moved from Birmingham to Detroit, Mich between 1855 and 1860, and to Bay City by 1867. It appears Michael emigrated post 1864, if the 1880 Census is to be believed. Michael's obituary in the Bay City papers is a one-liner stating that he passed away. Patrick's was a large obit, but no mention of other family members other than his wife and kids. I'm trying to determine if Michael and Patrick were brothers (or cousins?).
