Bernie, In my file, I have: HUGH CARNEY was born about 1850 in Ireland, and died after 1889. He married ELIZABETH H. MCDERMOTT 1875 in Braidwood IL. She was born 1856 in Kankakee County IL, and died after 1900 in (Chicago IL?). More About HUGH (CARNEY) KEARNEY: coal miner(1880) Residence: Division St., Braidwood IL(1880) More About ELIZABETH H. (AUNT LIZ) MCDERMOTT: Burial: Braidwood IL as daughter of Margaret "McDermitt." Occupation: ran boarding house opposite gates of Chicago Stock Yards(1899-!900) Residence: Division St., Braidwood IL(1880). Chicago, IL(1896-1899). In 1888 Elizabeth married Thomas Allen. It would appear he was out of the picture, perhaps by 1895 or so. Do you see any connection with your CARNEY line.
