Michigan. Samuel and Charlotte were my gr-gr-gr-grandparents. They had several children James, Nelson, Lafayette,Ida, Samuel Jr.,Edward. I'm just starting the research on this side of my family and have copies of several Obits. Am interested in finding the living generations to share with.

    2. I forgot to tell you, Frank Carney did live in Streveport, Louisianna and his wife's name is possibly Lavina Cushing. I can't find nothing about her anywhere and possibly may have her name mispelled. Thanks, Barb

    2. Ok, this is what I do have about Frank Carney. He may have been born 08/03/1892 and died Jan. 1969 in Havertwon, Delaware Co, PA. He had two brothers Leo and John Carney. His parents were Thomas and Lovina (possibly Lena) Morton. John's obiturary states his mother's name was Lovina Morton. Leo Carney's obiturary states it is Lena Morton. These two are brothers as they both state Thomas Carney was their father and their mother's last name is Morton. He may have been born in Sinnemahoning, PA. which is where my grandfather was born in 1881. Thank you, Barbara

    2. Hi Barb - I guess I missed where you gave out the information. I have a lot of records from PA. If you could give me your information, I can look in my databases and see if I have any information re: Frank. I would need to know what years you are looking in, where in PA, any relatives that you know might possibly be related to him i.e. a wife or children so that I could narrow it down. Michele

    2. I am sorry. I guess I am just frustrated that I have had no luck so far. The one shown in the email is the one I am looking for an obit for. I wrote to the library in Haverford and they sent me the page from the SS Death Index with the same name on it. I don't know if he is my uncle, that is why I sent to Haverford to get the obit. The information is there when he was born and where He died. The obit would be where he died, I would think. Thanks, Barb.

    2. I sent a letter to the library in Haverford and they sent me a copy of the SS Death Index. Then someone emailed me and said it was not mandatory to have it. I just want to know if he is my uncle and not getting any help with it. Barb

    3. You wrote: PLEASE WOULD SOMEONE HELP ME OUT THERE? THANK YOU, BARB FRANK CARNEY 03 Aug 1892 Jan 1969 19083 (Havertown, Delaware, PA) ** I did find that one, but not sure if it is my uncle or not. I wanted to get a copy of his obit so I could make sure. ************************************************* Barb, Hello again, Barb there are many helpful people on these lists but you need to help us too. We all realize why you would want to find an Obit. However, you don't give enough information in your inquiries & responses. You said "I did find that one" That one WHAT? Which one? The death certificate, the SS application or the SS death index noting where & to whom the death benefit was paid. People will more likely assist you if you give them facts such as what you do know, what steps you have taken. Don't just say I have checked newspapers, obit, etc. Tell the list what Newspapers you have looked in, all the specific steps you have taken. Do you have other family located in the area where this Frank died? Or is this just a person who's age and name fits? Do you know FRANK is a nickname for FRANCIS? When you checked for Frank Carney did you also check for Francis Carney? These are the sorts of information that would help other people to assist you. I have a similar problem as I'm sure most of us do, but my reasons for researching are more pressing. It's a medical emergency. Unfortunately this hobby is research. And you need to do your research you can't expect the list to do your work. I was sure my relatives would have had an Obit but none can be found. Maybe the newspaper they advertised in are not on microform. The one brother (who I have confirmed as a brother from the 1900 census) his obit just gives the address of the wake and date of death. Nothing that would help there. So don't place so much importance on this obit. There are other avenues. Certainly it would be nice to have an obit. But the SS application or death certificate would confirm who his parents were. It wouldn't hurt to try and get the death certificate. Proof of relationship is not always requested. Mary

    1. Re: [CARNEY-L] Frank Carney in Pennsylvania.
    2. If you send for a copy of his Social Security card, it will tell you his parents names and where he was born. That might help you confirm that he is your uncle. Do you know where in PA he died? Librarians are usually very helpful in making copies of obits for you. Good luck Michele

    3. Have you looked in the Social Security records? A Frank Carney that sounds like the one you are looking for is there. His birth date was 8/3/1892 and he died in Jan. 1969. His SS# was 163-03-8795. You can send a messae to them but I'm not sure what information they have and it will cost $7 with the SS#. Good luck in your search. Ruth
