    1. [CARNEY-L] Sir Joseph Carney
    2. SherylReardon
    3. Hi everybody, I remember when I was small and at a relatives place for some reason one of the people there opened a book that looked big like an encyclopedia to a page that had a photograph and the name under it was 'Sir Joseph Carney' this person then told me that he was one of my ancestors. I haven't thought of it for a long time and decided to find out if it was fact or fiction. The only CARNEY's I found in my tree are James b. 7 January 1849 in Bathurst, New South Wales m.(12 July 1877 Nsw) SCOTT, Louisa Lucrezia b. 1 December 1856. They had 11 children one of which is my grandmother Mary Louisa m. REYNOLDS, Albert George in Forbes, New South Wales, Australia. Could anybody help me find the truth about this ancestor.? Waiting hopefully, Sheryl (Reynolds)

    2. Jonathan Paisley
    3. Posted on: CARNEY Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/c/a/CARNEY/queries/38 Surname: PAISLEY, CARNEY ------------------------- Hello. My name is Jonathan Paisley and my great-great-grandfather's name was Jerry Beale Paisley from Yale, MI. In Yale he owned the Hotel Paisley. The 1910 Soundex Listing for Carneys in Michigan list Clair Carney and Al Carney as enummerated with Jerry Paisley in Yale, MI. I had passed it off that they were full time residents of the Hotel or possibly they were on the staff and lived there. However my grandmother mentioned today that Jerry Paisley's son Harry Paisley had a sister that moved away (possibly to Florida) named Clair. Harry was born in 1887. Clair Carney in 1889 (listed as 21 y/o at 1910 census). Al Carney is listed as 44 on the same census. Could it be that Clair Paisley could have been married to Al Carney and still living in the hotel? I have not found any marraige records to support this theory, nor have a found a complete list of Jerry Paisley's children. I also find no record of Clair in anyone's Carney family tree. So...does anyone know who Clair Carney is? Is she Harry's sister? tesla_2000@hotmail.com Jon Link: 1910 Soundex of all the Carneys in Michigan URL: <http://www.billcarney.com/brickmasons/carney/1910carney.htm>

    3. Teri Thank you for your message. I wish I could be more encouraging, but I don't think these two Pearl Carneys are the same person. I saw a message of yours posted on this list once before; and I became very excited, hoping to make a connection at last. But the information you mentioned at the time didn't seem to match what little I know about my grandfather. I will give you the information I have on my Pearl Carney. According to my mother and father's marriage certificate my Pearl Carney was born in Indianna. He would have to have lived in Ft. Wayne for at least a little while because my father, Alvin Jack Carney, was born in that city on January 12, 1905. To my knowledge my grandfather, Pearl Carney, was married only once. My problem in finding out more about him is caused by the fact that my father's birth certificate was destroyed in a court house fire in Ft. Wayne. I am hoping to do some more research with the census in the state of Indianna soon. I asked my mother awhile back what the middle name of my grandfather, Pearl Carney, was. She said she was pretty sure he didn't have a middle name. She also told me that he hated the name "Pearl" and had people call him "Peter." He even used this name on documents at times. Of the documents I have of him (which are few) sometimes he is listed as Pearl Carney, and at other times he is listed as Peter Carney. I wish I had more information to give you, but at this time, this is all I have. Let me know if any of this information jives with yours.
