    3. Bernie, In my file, I have: HUGH CARNEY was born about 1850 in Ireland, and died after 1889. He married ELIZABETH H. MCDERMOTT 1875 in Braidwood IL. She was born 1856 in Kankakee County IL, and died after 1900 in (Chicago IL?). More About HUGH (CARNEY) KEARNEY: coal miner(1880) Residence: Division St., Braidwood IL(1880) More About ELIZABETH H. (AUNT LIZ) MCDERMOTT: Burial: Braidwood IL as daughter of Margaret "McDermitt." Occupation: ran boarding house opposite gates of Chicago Stock Yards(1899-!900) Residence: Division St., Braidwood IL(1880). Chicago, IL(1896-1899). In 1888 Elizabeth married Thomas Allen. It would appear he was out of the picture, perhaps by 1895 or so. Do you see any connection with your CARNEY line. 2. David G. Thiessen
    3. Hello fellow Carney researchers! I am digging into my past and need any information I can get my hands on. I am working on my Carney line and haven't gotten very far. My grandmother is Retha Iola Carney. Her father was Gilbert Cheney Carney. He was born in LaGrange CO, IN in 1882. He died in 1944 in Hydro, Caddo Co., OK. He married Anna Elma Miller, daughter of Joseph P. Miller and Martha Wortinger. Two of my grandma's sisters were born there in LaGrange Co., IN. They were Treva Miller Carney (b. 7/5/03, d. 9/15/53 Kansas City, MO) and Opal Pauline Carney (b. 3/15/05, d. 10/5/88 Hydro, Caddo Co., OK) Then, in 1905 or 1906, the family headed to Plains, Meade Co., KS. Gilbert and Anna then had the following children: Bessie Belle Carney (b. April 29, 1907 d. October 01, 1971, Modesto, CA.) Russel J. Carney (b. January 08, 1909 d. September 10, 1980, Hydro, Caddo Co., OK) Mary Anna Carney (b. October 07, 1911 d. July 22, 1998.) Then in 1912, 13, or 14 the family moved to Hydro, Caddo Co., OK and had these children: Raymond Gilbert Carney (b. December 15, 1914 d. January 05, 1915, Hydro, Caddo Co., OK) Owen Leonard Carney (b. February 19, 1918 d. June 15, 1988, Kansas City, MO) Lowell Emerson Carney (b. June 13, 1921 d. October 03, 1992, Weatherford, Custer Co., OK) Retha Iola Carney (b. 11/18/22) I can't seem to find anything concrete beyond Gilbert Cheney Carney. I will put down what I have been told: Gilberts parents were John C. Carney and Susan A. Rowan. John C. was born November 09, 1850 in Clay Township, Lagrange Co., IN, and died June 02, 1920 in St. Claire, MI. He married Susan A. Rowan on October 16, 1880 They had the following children: Gilbert C. Carney Anna M. Carney, d. date unknown. Frank V. Carney, d. date unknown. Rollin E. Carney, d. date unknown. Roscoe Carney, d. date unknown, Infant. Walter Carney, d. date unknown, Infant. Ivan Carney, d. date unknown, Infant. John C. Carney was the son of Shedrick Carney. He married Helen Unknown. John C. had the following siblings: Shedrick Carney,Jr Harriet Carney Libby Carney Shedrick Sr is apparently the Shedrick that was one of the earliest settlers in the LaGrange Co, IN area. His father was apparently a John Carney. That is all the info I have. I know it is sketchy at best. If anyone has info on this family, I would appreciate any help I can get. 3. Hi Carol, I once found a Valentine P. Carney in southern MO. I seem to remember that there were two of them, maybe a Sr. and Jr.. Naturally, I can't find the census reports now so I hope I didn't toss them out when I decided they weren't mine. There's a Valentine P.(I think it's a P.) Carney in Prince William Co. VA in 1830 but I haven't followed up on him. Our problem is, we've never seen a census with our Valentine P. listed so we have no idea where he was born. Also, the P could be for Price, as his son, Alvin's middle name is Price. Don't know if that's of any importance or not. Good luck with your John Valentine, Lyn GCLC2@trinex.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Olson" <solson@planetkc.com> To: <CARNEY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 11:04 PM Subject: Re: [CARNEY-L] Valentine P.
