Michele, I'm a Carney, too. My ggf Michael Carney was from the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland (I think). He came to the US somewhere between 1848 & 1868. I don't know if he came through Canada or not. Family stories say he worked in a factory in Massachusetts. He married my ggm Ellen Grace in Poultney, VT in 1868 and they settled in the Midwest. I am having the same problem. What last bit of information do you have about your family? I have hit a brick wall with my great-grandparents Thomas and Lovina (Morton) Carney.
