I am new to this list and just started researching my dad's family in January. My father's mother's mother was Elizabeth Margaret CARMODY (1858 or 60 to 1927), the daughter of John CARMODY (died 1882) and Mary CORBETT (died 1922). Elizabeth married Timothy CALLAHAN and lived in Charlestown, NH, but my grandmother's birth certificate says she (Elizabeth) was born in Ludlow, VT. While looking for Elizabeth I found a lot of Carmodys in Rutland city directories from 1876-1913 when I ran out of time. The names seem right for "my" Carmodys. I know John served in the Civil War and it looks like he had a brother Thomas who also served. The 1880 Census shows John's brother MIchael and Michael's two young daughters (presume wife died) were living with John. There were CORBETTs in Rutland at the same time, but I don't know Mary's parents' names. I know they all came from Ireland but don't know when. Does anyone have any information on the Carmodys or Corbetts? Robin in Maryland
